About Samael Leopold-Sullivan
Hello, and welcome to my Patreon page! I’m Samael Leopold-Sullivan, an
artist and educator based in Minneapolis, MN. Primarily I make sculpture, working with materials ranging
from bronze to latex to neon. I
also enjoy jewelry-making, printmaking, stop motion animation, 3-D modeling, and
learning new mediums.
By supporting my Patreon, you allow me to continue making art. In return I share in-depth information about my processes, sneak peeks of new works, discount codes for my shop, first dibs on new work, and occasional art in the mail! Patreon also provides a nice platform for learning and community, which is something I hope to foster and develop on my page as well.
Short Artist Statement:
My conceptual work consists of visceral, abstracted creatures in dialogue with industrial objects and spaces. These beings serve as metaphor for the parts of ourselves that we seek to control or subdue, our emotional bodies. The industrial spaces, forms, and materials stand for the structures we as individuals, as well as society, put in place to channel or contain our emotional creature-selves. I use the contrast between these elements to explore the relationship between our innate wildness and learned social behaviors. By doing this I gain and share understanding about our internal motivations and psychic strife.
FAQ:
Q: What does the money go to?
A: The money you pledge goes towards tools, materials, and studio rent, as well as for creating a stable, baseline income that allows me to spend more time making art and teaching people how to make art!
Q: How can I know when you are doing art things?
A: Here is a calendar that I keep updated!

Goals
$88.97 of $300 per month
When I hit $300 per month I will be able to afford a studio again! I'll have a little virtual studio-warming celebration and send out a very special series of small arts to all patrons. I will also be able to do more process videos, and perhaps return to doing tutorials.
