Hello. Hi. Hello. I’m Sarah Lazarovic, maker of comics, illustrations and visual journalism. In recent years, I’ve tried to stop working for the man and start working for the Internet. It’s kind of working. I’d like it to work more.

Here is the plan. In a few months I begin a super exciting course of study in sustainability and consumer behaviour. I’ll be posting weekly and monthly comics, visual journalism and interviews here as I begin my research this summer. Your support is greatly appreciated. With it, I’ll be able to devote more time to studying sustainability and translating it into highly rewarding visual content and silly drawings of planets wearing high heels. Patreon provides a way to support my process without buying stupid t-shirts from me. No offence, stupid t-shirts. I just don’t think you’re a viable business model. I do think Patreon is a much more wonderful, wasteless model for supporting artists. But how can I reward you, dear Internet person, for supporting me without giving you stuff? I can give you stuff. It’ll just have to be mostly digital stuff. When it is a real, physical thing, it’ll be handmade, recycled or made from easily renewable resources like banana peels and Jimmy Fallon’s laughter.

What am I trying to do here? I'm trying to change up my business model. Right now I give away my content for free, and make money when people buy stuff from my Society6 shop or slow shopping site. Which is fine. This is just a place for you to support me without buying a throw pillow from me. In so doing, I can make lots more stuff that I can give away for free.

Things that I will be studying and drawing in the next year:
Sustainable business, environmental ethics, consumer behaviour, choice architecture, tater tots.

The full plan:
• I’ll post one to two comics and pieces of visual journalism right here, a day before I post them anywhere else. These bits of mini-content will include articles, illustrations, charts made of food and weirdness, all the stuff I usually do in one central place. Smaller stuff like:

• I’ll post one longer form piece of visual journalism a month, based on my impending course of research. What I’m trying to do is talk about sustainability and better living in a way that is informative, compelling and funny. My goal is to render complex topics digestible. And funny. Did I mention they will be funny?

Quick note:
• You can set a maximum contribution so even if I go a bit wild and create 3,429 comics per month, I won't bankrupt you.

Thank you!

You’re absolutely nuts. Each month you can pick a custom piece of digital and ephemeral flare that will be designed specially for you. These include:
• A digital badge for your blog, Facebook page, livejournal (do those still exist?)
• A scrap medal (http://abunchofpretty.com/products/scrap-metal) mailed to you or someone you love or like a little.
• Postcards with secret absolutely untrue facts about Toronto mailed directly to you or someone you love or like a little.
• Occasional giveaways of custom paintings of stuff you love.

Are you my mom or a Medici? You will receive a handmade, limited edition piece of art every six months, as well as my very favourite sustainable swag, as reviewed on my slow shopping site.
Goals
$5 of $150 per comic
Reaching this milestone would allow me to devote a significant chunk of time to the creation and research of each piece I create.
