Film is not dead! I'm old enough to have learned photography with film I had to remove from the camera and wind into a canister in the dark. I used digital for a while, but the easy and sterile perfection soon bored me. I've gone back to film, and I use a variety of "toy" and/or vintage cameras for my work. I live in beautiful, historic south Louisiana, and my photography reflects that. I love to photograph old plantations, slave cabins, abandoned houses, cemeteries, and religious structures and objects.

Louisiana was originally a French colony, than a Spanish one, then a French one again; was part of the short-lived Republic of West Florida, became a US state, seceded to become part of the Confederate States of America, and was welcomed back into the USA after the Civil War ended. All of which is to say that the only constant in south Louisiana is change. Plantation houses that are abandoned wrecks today once had wealthy families living in them; tomorrow they might be restored and turned into a bed and breakfast, burn to the ground, or be taken by the river.

Your pledge will allow me to document south Louisiana while we still have it as it is at this moment in time, a place that can't decide if it's land or water. With it I will be able to buy and develop film, make prints, and put gas in my car so I can make the 2-3 hour drives that are routine for me. I'm also working on some projects that I hope to turn into books. In return, I will be offering a variety of my work, in different formats and sizes depending on the amount of the pledge. I hope you will give generously, but of course you'll want to look at my work first!

I had a Lomography knock-off and it took amazing photos, but eventually the film advance broke and couldn't be fixed. I'd like to replace it with an original Soviet-made vintage camera, which is actually cheaper than the knock-off!
