Hey everyone! Welcome to my Patreon page.

For the last 15 years I've been lucky enough to travel around playing, recording, and teaching music. I've helped kids under 6 hold the violin and bow for the first time, I've sent students off to conservatory, and I want to share my knowledge of American music with you!

Absolutely anyone can learn to play and enjoy the fiddle. For too long, bowed string instruments have been viewed as insurmountable. If I had a nickel for every time someone approached me to tell me about how they "used" to play the violin, I could give these videos away for free! And every time, I unfortunately hear the same things over and over - "my teacher told me I was bad" and "my folks didn't want to pay for the lessons if I didn't want to practice."

The reality is that playing the violin is just as hard as anything, and you have to approach it with the right expectations. Now, there's a chance you might not pass the Juilliard audition, or get to fiddle on the Grand Ol' Opry. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't still enjoy your journey through music. Not only will you get a ton of fun out of fiddling, it will help you connect with other musicians around you and create experiences in your life you may not have thought you'd otherwise have. It can bring you opportunities to travel and strike up a conversation with total strangers; it can teach you more about the American melting pot; there's no limit to what the fiddle can do except your imagination!

My page is geared towards the American musical experience from the fiddle's perspective. I'd like to help you draw out good sound, learn fun songs, and even take a walk on the wild side with some cross tunings! There'll be fast rippin' tunes, beautiful slow dance songs, and everything in-between. We'll learn some straight-up transcriptions from famous fiddlers, some tunes I've arranged, and also arm you with tools to pick up melodies by rote.

Two video lessons will be posted mostly - a "technique" lesson that addresses fundamentals of playing the violin, and a "repertoire" lesson that breaks down a tune and teaches it to you.

Thanks for stopping by, hope we can play together soon!
