Hello, gorgeous!

Welcome to my Patreon page, which is designed to support my work as a writer and podcast host at: sarahstarrs.com.

What is Patreon?
You know how old-timey artists had wealthy patrons who paid their living expenses so they could get down to work and do what they did best? Well, Patreon is allowing that to happen in the digital age. Only you don't have to be wealthy to become a patron of the creators you love because it harnesses the power of crowdfunding!

Other crowdfunding sites, like Kickstarter, raise money for a single, big event (like launching a book!). Patreon is designed for creators who put out smaller, consistent work - think bloggers, illustrators, and podcasters - and the people who love what they do! You can choose any monthly pledge amount you want and can get some pretty sweet rewards. Plus, you're welcome to cancel your patronage whenever you want and I'll still love you!

What I Do

Above all else, I'm a storyteller. I've been writing online for years and had built a successful business as a coach but I got sick of the glossy, online self-help scene (& a massive existential crisis ensued!)

What I realised is I don't want to share advice or how-tos or five-point plans. I want to spill my blood and guts onto the page and invite you into the stories of my life, not to teach you anything but to show how I’m doing it and you can take from it what you will. I want to write personal essays. I want to write a book. Books, plural, actually.

I stepped back and reevaluted everything and came to understand that when it comes to my work, freedom and creativity are my biggest values. So I used that as my guide and plotted a new path.

Now I earn a living working as a nanny and a virtual assistant but my creative passions are fuelled through writing personal essays and creating The Girl Gang Conversations podcast.

Connection and self-inquiry are at the heart of everything I do, and that's really what this podcast is all about.

The Podcast
The Girl Gang Conversations is a podcast that’s all about connection, sisterhood, and having conversations that matter.

Every week I speak to inspiring women about the nitty gritty of how they live with passion and purpose. We dive deep into our journeys, the obstacles we’ve overcome, what’s working for us, and what isn’t. We’re totally honest about what we’re learning, what our daily rituals look like, and what we’re struggling with. We don’t shy away from the hard stuff and we really go into it all: spirituality, personal development, magic, routines, career, friendship, relationships, sexuality, and so much more

The most powerful two words in the English language are “me too!” and it’s my hope that these conversations help us all feel less alone. This isn’t about preachy self-help or self-improvement. It’s about self-acceptance and talking about the things that matter to us.

The Girl Gang

For too long, women's voices have been silenced and patriarchy has pitted us against each other in competition. That means that instead of bonding over our shared experiences and understanding ourselves better in the process, our lived realities have continued to be marginalized and kept to the fringes. Luckily, the tides are changing. Sisterhood, girl gangery, the Divine Feminine - whatever you want to call it - is on the rise.

The Girl Gang Conversations has a buzzing community of likeminded babes and it lights me up to be apart of!

We gather in our private Facebook group, chat with one another on Twitter, and even organise in-person meet ups to talk about anything and everything related to our desires, self-love, personal development, and making our dreams come true. It’s like a virtual slumber party for babes who approach personal development with a wild and authentic heart and you’re invited! Maybe you collect crystals but aren't sure about their "energetic" powers or get squeamish around the word God but consider yourself spiritual. This is a space to have open and supportive conversations. To explore our beliefs. To share the practices and experiments we're implementing with people who get it. And to ask for support and advice with the issues we're not sure other people will understand.

It’s my raison d’être to foster this safe space for mutual sharing and growth. Qoya founder Rochelle Schiek says, "Two of the most powerful words in the English language are 'Me, too.'" When one woman speaks her truth it shows other women that they are not alone. That we’re in this together. That life is better when we lift each other up rather than tearing each other down.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to creating a life we love. We need to give the middle finder to prescriptive advice about how we should be living. Instead we need to take a DIY approach to experimenting and forging our own path.

As a girl gang we share what’s working for us and model the fact that there are an infinite number of ways to be in the world and how we show up in our life should change and evolve over time. Through my work I hope to help more women cultivate the complete adoration for herself that she deserves and the confidence to intentionally design the life she deeply craves.

Join Our Gang!

It’s my big dream for this to be a community-funded podcast, rather than bringing in advertisers or sponsors. Being able to make a living from my creative work is so, so important to me but I also love the community building that is inherent to Patreon.

Patrons of The Girl Gang Conversations get access to a special members only clubhouse where I share unreleased episodes, exclusive content, and special Q&A sessions.

Other bonuses for patrons start at $5 and let me tell you they are pretty sweeeeeeet. From the monthly Girl Gang Missions and snail mail letters to personalised guided meditations and free rein of my digital shop, each of these gifts is my way of saying thank you for supporting this work.

That being said, there’s no cost to being in the girl gang. For anyone who feels like a kindred spirit, we deeply desire to hang out with you. Follow along with my blog posts, sign up for weekly love letters, listen to the podcast, and join in on the conversation in Girl Gang HQ.

Our girl gang is for any self-identified woman who isn’t afraid to make a mess and forge her own path while creating a life she loves. If that’s you, please join us!
