My Name is Jennifer Brazas, aka Savagesparrow. I have been a professional artist and illustrator for a little over a decade. Some of you may know me from my time in webcomics where I did the online manga Mystic Revolution--a series about a bunch of characters in an online roleplaying game. Some of you may have followed my art through the various fan communities I've been a part of on deviantART, the LARP/tabletop communities or through my cool nerdy apparel business, Savagesparrow Studios. Regardless of how you got here, welcome!
I have been passionate about art, fashion and telling stories since I was a little kid, and I'm so very thankful I've been able to turn that passion into a career. I look forward to continuing to share my work and develop cool products to celebrate the fandoms I adore.
What is Savagesparrow Studios?
Savagesparrow Studios is an independent, online retailer of originally designs geeky merch and apparel. Right now, it consists primarily of myself and the various teams I've partnered with to help get my products to you guys. I initially started selling my work online about 8 yeas ago through Shark Robot, and in person in artist's alleys. As time went on, I was able to move on to taking on vendor spaces, making cooler products, and as of this year, going fully independent with my own shop!
Why should you use Patreon?
Patreon offers you a really cool and unique way to support the artists and content creators you like! It's kind of like a hybrid of a subscription service and Kickstarter--Pick a pledge amount you're comfortable with contributing, acquire cool rewards in return! You can also set a maximum amount for how much you're willing to spend in a month (in case you're a patron of multiple artists), and you can also edit/modify your pledge amounts at any time as well.
Since Tumblr has started to die off and Facebook isn't great at displaying content to everyone who follows those Pages, I plan to be using Patreon as one of the primary vehicles for posting the creative work I do that isn't finished products--WIP shots, Product development, Commissions, one shot comics and other random things!
Why am I using Patreon?
Just as I was making the break to go fully independent with my business, some Dramatic Life Things happened and I had to become the primary caregiver for my 96 year old grandma. While I am very thankful that things ended up working out this way, it has been a bit of a financial strain. As a result, I've found I've had to push back developing new types of products/apparel (like more leggings/dresses/bomber jackets) because prototyping those things is really expensive, and I can't afford the risk right now. If I can start to depend on Patreon to support my base-level expenses, then I can work on getting back to using my business funds to make more exciting and innovative things!
What if I can't afford to support you?
That is super ok! Times are tough all around, which is another reason the internet is awesome--even giving basic follows to all my free content helps out super hard! I'll be keeping a lot of the posts here unlocked other than votes/WIP things, too, and I'm pretty sure you can subscribe to the RSS feed even without being an official Subscriber.
Thank you guys so much for reading! It really means a lot to me that you took the time to check this out and support. Nonni and I love you <3
