So many people are experiencing the pain of being in relationships in crisis. When you are in a relationship with a difficult, toxic person, the only respite for that pain is to come to recognize the patterns, traits, and cycles in the relationship, realize that what you are experiencing is abuse, and recovering by gathering the insights, skills, and understanding to make healthy decisions for yourself, and for your children.
I am Dr. Rhoberta Shaler and I provide urgent and ongoing care for relationships in crisis. Even the United States Marines have called on me for help!
As a relationship consultant, mediator, and speaker, I particularly help the partners, exes, adult children, and co-workers of the relentlessly difficult people I call "Hijackals®." I help them save their sanity and stop the crazy-making.
I created the term, Hijackals®, to give everyone a non-clinical term for people with the patterns, traits, and cycles of those who might be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, antisocial personal disorder, or histrionic personality disorder behavior tendencies, if they were ever interested in a diagnosis. (They're usually not!)
I define Hijackals as "people who hijack relationships--for their own purposes--while relentlessly scavenging them for power, status, and control."
In my podcasts, I offer the insights, strategies, and support you need to reclaim hope, confidence--and your sanity--when dealing with the constant uncertainty and jaw-dropping behaviors of Hijackals in your life, at home and at work.
I've written sixteen books, including my Hijackal ebook series, Escaping the Hijackal Trap: The Definitive Guide to Dealing with Relentlessly Difficult People, Dr. Shaler is the host of two podcasts: Emotional Savvy: The Relationship Help Show and Save Your Sanity: Help for Handling Hijackals®!
I am grateful that my work has been featured on FoxNews, PsychCentral, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, The Good Men Project, eHarmony, Care2, Greatist, Pulse, and The Needs, among many others. My YouTube channel, ForRelationshipHelp, is an evergreen source of practical insights and tips for relationships.
Thank you for reading this. I'm doing all that I can to help people recognize what has happened to them, and is happening to them, realize it is abusive, and gather the insights, strategies, and support to heal from emotional abuse.
I appreciate your support!
