About Scenic Mentor

Welcome, friend!

Scenic Mentor has been providing free tutorials for Vectorworks, Cinema 4D, and Unity since 2017.

Back in 2017, I was just starting to learn how to bring my Vectorworks models into Cinema 4D for fly-through animations. I was intimidated and completely overwhelmed with the excess of tutorial content on the internet.

As an events industry designer, I only needed to know a small portion of all that Cinema 4D could do. Finding a tutorial that filled my exact need was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I ended up getting a private virtual tutor, the original mentor you might say. He was able to address my exact needs, like event-specific lighting, common scenic textures, and other model import hacks.

Finally, I had the answers I needed.

I knew I had to share what I had learned. Surely there were other Vectorworks designers out there who wanted to start working in Cinema 4D.

So I grabbed all my notes, both from my online research and the private tutor, and assembled them into my first few posts on the new scenicmentor.com.

Since then, about four years later, I have grown as a designer and as a blogger. My interests have expanded to include VR with Unity and recently V-ray with Cinema 4D.

I've been most surprised by how rewarding all of this has been. The people I've met, the encouragement they offer, and the gratitude I receive have been deeply meaningful to me. Without the community, I wouldn't have been as motivated to continue investing my time and money into this project.

I'm inviting you now to continue supporting me as I take Scenic Mentor in a new direction. I'm excited to utilize Patreon to further nurture our niche community and encourage more direct connection, all while valuing myself and my time.

Thank you to all of you who have ever liked my youtube videos, attended a webinar, or commented on my facebook posts. You keep me going!

Goals
1 of 50 patrons
When I reach 50 patrons, I'll work on publishing a free in-depth ebook for my patrons and the wider community. It will compile my knowledge of all the ways we can go from Vectorworks to VR, including Unity, Unreal, Enscape, etc., as well as VR tools available from within Vectorworks.
