Pay Our Editors!
If we hit this mark, we can compensate our amazing and completely under-appreciated editors for their time and their equipment! They make us sound great every week and they are as critical to keeping the show running as the hosts are. They spend a ton of time working on the show every week, hit every deadline we throw at them no matter how ridiculous, and deserve it: we absolutely couldn't do the show without them.
Replace Old Equipment!
At this level we can cover the cost of all the equipment we’ve already purchased, and also replace the stuff that is in desperate need of replacing. The team spans 5 different cities and 2 countries, so we need multiples of everything.
Conferences and Panels!
Some of the best panels we’ve ever done have been at conferences like CONvergence, and we’ve always paid our own way to attend these events. Help us cover the cost of travel, and we can make more of these awesome panel shows. Desiree loves to moderate these panels and would love to do more! Maybe we can be at YOUR conference?

Science for the People needs your help! Since 2009, we've been bringing you weekly science and critical thinking themed interviews to the radio airwaves and as a freely downloadable podcast.
Everyone who works on Science for the People — the hosts, our editors, and the rest of our entire wonderful team — are dedicated volunteers, and for the last 5 years we have pretty much funded the show directly out of our own pockets. The show has always been a labour of love for us, and we've been working at a net loss since the show started.
We want to keep the show freely distributed to anyone and everyone who wants to listen, but our pockets are only so deep. Now we're asking for your support to help keep us going.
If you have enjoyed listening to Science for the People and want us to keep going strong and putting out new shows every week, please consider becoming a Patreon and making a small monthly donation to support the show. Every dollar helps offset our out of pocket costs and allows us to keep focused on doing what we do best, which is bringing you weekly interviews with science researchers, journalists, authors, and bloggers.
To show our gratitude to those of you who are able to help us out and keep the show freely distributed, our Patreon subscriber feed will be regularly populated with as many extra goodies as we can cram in. Sometimes after a recording session we keep a guest on the line for a little post-interview chat, and we'd like to share some of those extras with you as a thank you for your support. You can check out the subscriber rewards below to get all the details about the different little extras we have planned for you!
Every week, our hosts Desiree Schell and Rachelle Saunders sit down with science researchers, writers, authors, journalists, and experts to discuss science from the past, the science that affects our lives today, and how science might change our future.
If you've never heard the show before, here's a couple of our favourite episodes to get you started, where we talk about the creation of the birth control pill, how it works, and the history of the speculum.
Or this one, a panel about the realities and myths surrounding forensic science:
