Screen Slate (www.screenslate.com) tells people what to see.

Here's how we've done that since 2011:

  • Compiling daily listings of New York City independent, repertory, experimental, and artist-focused film and video screenings and exhibitions
  • Commissioning and publishing original essays and cultural criticism by a diverse group of writers, including daily featured write-ups, in-depth articles, and print projects
  • Developing and maintaining a custom online platform and daily and weekly newsletters to publish listings and commentary to website visitors and email subscribers
  • Presenting public programs that spotlight overlooked or marginalized works, support artists, and build community

Screen Slate is also known for its free Screen Slate Daily email list, which dispatches daily listings and original writing every morning, 365 days a year.

Support us, we'll subscribe you to the Screen Slate Weekly email. Created due to popular demand, the weekly gives you the full run-down of the next seven days' listings each Monday afternoon, plus the upcoming featured write-ups. (Here's a preview.)

Give more, and you can also get free or discounted admission to Screen Slate events, special print publications, and discounts from our friends including Criterion and Posteritati.

PRESS & ACCLAIM

"As New York’s arthouse and repertory scene heats up, more and more cinephiles have come to rely on Screen Slate. [It's] a godsend ... easy to use, and absurdly thorough." –Bilge Ebiri, The Village Voice

“[Nonprofit cinemas] all are acutely aware of existing within a larger and growing ecosystem that often thrives on collaboration. … Websites like Screen Slate offer comprehensive guides.” -Dennis Lim, The New York Times

"The only website that actually gives me pleasure in checking daily" –Nick Pinkerton, Artforum

“An indelible resource for New York City cinephiles.” –Carolyn Lazard, The Brooklyn Rail

“When I die I want to go to Screen Slate. But, like Susan Hayward, I want to live… and still get Screen Slate delivered every morning, which, amazingly, I do. It’s not only stone informative, but consoling and inspiring, and makes you think there’s hope for New York.” –Richard Hell
