Here's the short version of why I'm starting a Patreon account: I do a lot of writing on my website for which I am currently not paid. More money to meet basic business and living expenses would be helpful. Patreon enables folks for whom my work has been - or continues to be - helpful to support that work in a tangible way.

Here's the longer version.

About eight years ago I scaled back my journalistic work to write more at my website. I wrote about attention, nonduality, A Course in Miracles and so forth. That work has drawn a lot of interest and support over the years; I am grateful and edified in equal measure.

My income comes primarily from part-time teaching gigs, book sales and the occasional foray into local journalism. I have avoided advertising on my site because I find ads frustrating; I think they get in the way of a positive user experience.

If you'd like to support me and the writing I do, and if you are able to do so without hurting your own bottom line, then please feel free. All my content is free and will remain so. If you can't donate, or don't want to, no worries at all.

Thank you for reading and sharing.

Goals
$0 of $500 per month
Meeting this goal would allow me to:
- Deepen my focus on research, editing, rewriting and writing longer pieces;
- Offer video versions of posts;
- Develop online curriculum for courses related to attention, nonduality, spirituality and A Course in Miracles;
- Improve hosting for my site;
- Network with fellow students, teachers and scholars; and
- Continue to meet my recurring living expenses.
