About Sean Tubbs

For the past year, Sean Tubbs has been producing high-quality journalism about the workings (or not-workings) of local government in and around Charlottesville. Since July 2020, there have been nearly 250 installments of Charlottesville Community Engagement, a newsletter and podcast that explains what is happening from the perspective of a career observer of government in Virginia.

In the early days of the pandemic, Tubbs resumed his journalistic journey with the launch of the Charlottesville Quarantine Report, a podcast about the local and state response to a public health crisis. He had taken a ten-year hiatus away from producing audio for the Charlottesville Podcasting Network to focus on in-depth reporting for a non-profit organization. After producing over three dozen episodes of CQR, Tubbs opted to go independent by launching Town Crier Productions to serve as an umbrella company to cover the costs of all manner of journalistic experiments.

This third decade of the 21st century is a time when the community needs more eyes on what is going on. With every single newsletter, Tubbs proves himself as a trusted voice who can quickly convey complex concepts. (He also knows that writing about himself in the third person is really strange, and he calls himself out this, but it's a one-person business and some of this stuff sounds better if you add two to that number.)

Your support will directly support the continuing creation of these products and the establishment of a new kind of community journalism. Hundreds of people are now supporters, either through Patreon or by purchasing a subscription to CCE in the newsletter. Either way, the funding helps support the ability to put out content on a frequent basis.

Tubbs hopes you will consider supporting today. He won't let you down
