New recording equipment Tier I
$300 per Song
YAY! I'll be able to replace some of the gear (dynamic mics, mostly) the TSA "liberated" from my bags when I moved last December. Should make for some more versatile recordings. MORE AT TIER II
Videos for each new song Tier I
$500 per Song
WOW! At this amount I'd be able to make some kind of video for each new song. Tier I videos wouldn't necessarily be full-blown music videos, but would have more to them than just a static shot of me with a guitar or something. MORE AT TIER II
New recording equipment Tier II
$750 per Song
OH DANG! This level of stable funding would free me up to go on a Craigslist spree, scrounging together used drums, pianos and all kinds of other weird (still pretty cheap) junk for me to add to my recordings. MORE IN TIER III
REAL DEAL recording equipment Tier III
$1,000 per Song
HOLY BUTTS! This level of support from you amazing people would let me invest in some REAL DEAL stuff like tube pre-amps and sound dampening and high-end interfaces that would take my recordings to the next level.
REAL DEAL videos for each new song Tier II!!!!!
$1,500 per Song
ALGEBRAIC! With Patrons like these, I'd be well into New Laptop territory which means REAL DEAL video territory. My current laptop limped to the finish line for the last record and should hold out for basic audio production for a while, but with a new laptop I'd be able to edit more intense high-def video with SPECIAL EFFECTS and COLOR CORRECTION and LIGHTING and stuff! Wow!

Who are you?

Hey! I'm Seth Boyer. I write songs. You may have heard them on Welcome to Night Vale or Tiny Cartridge or at a bar in Anchorage, AK or at a Marian Call concert or in your very own living room.

What is this?

This is my Patreon page. Patreon is a crowdfunding platform for independent creators of stuff (oh hey, that's me!) that allows fans to pledge a dollar amount to their favorite artists so they can keep making the dope things they are already making.

For example: I write songs! I just put out a new record! It's great, I think! But I have all these other songs that aren't recorded yet! Rather than making everyone wait months to make a whole new album, I want to release a new song every 3-4 weeks.

And I want to release them for free.

Wait, what's with the whole "crowdfunding" angle if you're all The Pirate "Michael" Bay about music sales?

First, great pun. Second, I want to get my music to as many people as possible - even people with extremely limited income, like me for example. Patreon takes its name from the traditional notion of patronage, wherein patrons would financially support artists. Patreon takes that basic idea and boosts the scale so instead of one stuffy, rich Emerson helping out Thoreau, there are a whole bunch of Emersons.

Like, a gaggle of Emersons. What is the collective noun for Emersons?

A murder of Emersons.

Okay, yeah that sounds pretty cool, but you are way off topic.

Whoops, sorry.

Patreon is like a recurring tip jar where you get some cool bonus stuff out of it. It's like if every day you tipped your barista $1 they put a few more sprinkles on your skinny hot chocolate VERY MANLY AMERICANO and if you tipped $5 they drew a dog riding a skateboard on your cup.

That sounds like a great way to support people who make things I like.

Right??

Anyway, there are some awesome bonuses for Patrons at all levels laid out in bulleted detail below, including things like custom haikus, covers, demos, and live-streamed concerts. When the total per-song fundraising hits certain goals I'll be able to expand the rewards to things like videos and get better recording gear to do even better work.

Thanks so much, and please consider becoming a Patron!
