About Shanti Bardot

The videos and discussions here are practices 10+ years in the making to experience inspiration, connection, and grace everyday. Come here for balance, joint stability, increased range of motion, mindfulness practices to soothe an active spirit, knowledge of how your body functions and to learn about the beauty of MENAT* dance and music.
I am in love with movement and the human mind, and I am absolutely thrilled to share this passion with you! 

What I'm creating are videos for functional body mechanics through a blend of yoga and pilates. This means that what you learn with me can be applied directly to feeling better while moving throughout your day: walking, climbing stairs, carrying heavy bags, reaching for books on the top shelf, avoiding paper airplanes, etc!
I will also be sharing meditation practices, MENAT* dance technique, and performance videos!
Plus lectures on functional anatomy, discovering your creative voice, yoga philosophy, and building sustainable habits!

I look forward to being part of your personal journey toward deeper awareness of self!

*MENAT = Middle Eastern, North African, and Turkish dance.

Shanti Bardot is an experienced movement instructor who is certified in yoga, mat pilates, TRX, and has been privately training in barre and foam rolling at Remedy in Oakland, CA.
A self-processed anatomy nerd, Shanti is well studied in how and why your body wants to move. Her practices incorporate methods for actively feeling more connected with your body which means you move more safely, have a stronger sense of self, and can process through strong emotions all while building confidence and grace.
Shanti's teaching style is warm and dedicated with emphasis on alignment, breath, and rejuvenation.

In addition to teaching movement full time, Shant is also a Bay Area performer of Middle Eastern Dance who specializes in Arabic Folk Dance, Turkish Roman, and collecting tiny instruments. Story telling through movement, cultural context, and musical expression are distinctive components of her personal style.
Dancing has been a lifelong passion for Shanti, her Middle Eastern Dance training began at age 11 and by age 17 she started pursuing opportunities for intensive training with Rachel Brice, Elizabeth Strong, Aubre Hill, Sahra Saeeda and many others since.
Shanti also studies Balkan social dances and the drum rhythms of Middle Eastern & Balkan music.
Shanti Bardot performs as a soloists throughout the West Coast, produces a monthly showcase every 4th Saturday at Bliss Fitness & Health in Oakland and is currently a performing director of Qabila Folkdance Company BA.
