In small rural communities all over the world, the cultural and informational offering is almost non-existent. People living there are rarely exposed to good, recurrent, knowledge, very seldom interacting with the diversity of opinions and perspectives given by art, in its various forms.

SHORT FILM BREAKS is part of the change!
That’s why we are proudly partnering with the EduCaB team (http://www.educab.org), aiming to create 50 local cinemas in 17 countries, within the local libraries that EduCaB is partnering with, has established or planning to start soon.

Pilot screenings
have already taken place in 19 communities from 7 countries (Nepal, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Romania, Senegal and Guatemala). And the reactions are amazing! In many places, it was the first time the community had a cinema experience!
The movies that we are screening are not only entertaining, but also very informative, as we are usually following the screening by discussions with the audience around the meaning of the films they've just watched.
In many cases, people asked us to make the event permanent.
It means we are on the right path. We need to continue!

Our dream is for 50 cinemas to be created, with recurrent screenings.
For each of them we will need:
black curtains
- an used laptop
- mobile projector & a mobile set of speakers (sometimes the projections are organized in open air, other times we have to go to places where there is no electricity)
- a small electric power generator
transportation for our local associates (or, from time to time, a Short Film Breaks crew person, just to make sure everything is going well)
- popcorn/snacks for the screenings.
The package for each local cinema we will establish is $1200.

No matter how much you help with making the dream come true, every time we reach $1200 we will activate one local cinema. Imagine to have a network of 50 rural cinemas, in 17 countries around the globe. Wow!
