First things first: Thank you. Even if you don't stick around, I appreciate your willingness to give this a look.

Second things second: Hi, I'm Sidney!

I'm a professional writer with four romantic suspense novels published by Carina Press under my belt. I've loved writing for my publisher, because they're great people and they've helped me find an amazing audience of readers. Unfortunately, though, it's really hard to make a living wage as a writer, particularly when you're only putting out one book a year in a saturated market like romance, where there's a ton of books coming out all the time. I'm hoping that branching out into other platforms will help me supplement my income so that I can still make writing my first priority, work-wise.

Plus, a big part of being successful in a traditional romance market is developing a brand--publishing books that fit within a marketable, familiar framework so readers know exactly what they're getting. I'm the kind of writer who prefers to wander around all over the place, though, and I get bored writing within the same genre over and over. I have some work already done that I'd love to share with readers, but most of it isn't stuff that would fit my brand--or within the bounds of traditional romance novels.

That's why this Patreon page exists. So I can write whatever I want, however I want, no matter what rules I'm breaking or how off-brand I get, hopefully while enhancing my ability to, you know, feed my face.

As a patron, you'll get exclusive access to original romantic fiction. What does that include, you may ask? Well, you'll get the following:

1. Realistic, complex, imperfect characters. I like characters who try and fail and try again. I like characters who aren't always nice. I really like people who aren't textbook gorgeous or naturally amazing in bed or easy to get to know. I'm all about the messy humans, what can I say? You might also want to bear in mind that I develop my female characters the exact same way I develop my male characters, which means I've gotten the labels of "unlikable" or "difficult" stuck to my heroines a few times. I consider this a compliment, but your mileage may vary.

2. Stories (and relationships) that don't fit easily into a box. Sometimes I'll want to explore something simple and sweet, and sometimes I'll want to write something complex and moody. At some point in the future, there might be monsters. Or time travel. Stories about characters negotiating weird relationship quirks or sex kinks that don't turn out to be quite as hot as expected. Established relationships that are starting to fall apart and which need to be saved. Humor is likely to show up sooner or later; angst will definitely make repeat appearances.

3. Adult content, including explicit sex and graphic violence.  If you're opposed to F* bombs or dirty talk, this will not be a happy place for you. Kink is inevitable. Same-sex partnerships are ubiquitous. If you prefer euphemisms in your sex descriptions, you should hit the back button now, because I will never use the term "manhood" as anything but a joke. You should definitely be 18 years of age or older to be reading this stuff. Most importantly, you should know that this is not a safe space, content-wise, and it isn't meant to be. I'm starting this page in large part so that I can take risks, and sometimes those risks will engage with content that may make folks uncomfortable. If you're in a frame of mind where you need to avoid certain kinds of content for the sake of your mental health, that's completely understandable and cool, but if that's the case, this isn't the right place for you.

So how exactly does this patron thing work?

You just sign up for one of my two tiers based on how much money you want to spend and what kind of content you're interested in. I'm planning to post 3-5 times per year.

Tier number one will cost you two bucks at a time, and for that, you get access to whatever new fiction I'm posting. Most of the time, I'll be posting a standalone story that wraps up in a single post, but I may eventually tackle a much longer work, resulting in a story that spans multiple posts.

If you want more than that, you can sign up for my Friends with Benefits tier. That one will run you five bucks per creation. With this tier, you not only get the story, you get a minimum of two behind-the-scenes special features. Special features may include things like commentary, deleted scenes, key scenes rewritten from another character's POV, AMAs, post-story time stamps, and more. I may occasionally ask my Friends with Benefits folks to submit prompts of their choosing.

So if you're ready to jump on board, let me take this opportunity to thank you again. Without fans like you, writers like me usually end up working long hours at the local grocery store to pay the bills.

If you're on the fence, take a look around. There are a few posts available for free so that new folks have a chance to take a look at my work before deciding.

And if you'd like to pass, let me thank you anyway and encourage you to take a look at other creators on Patreon. My work might not be to your tastes, but something on here probably is. Best of luck finding it.

Sincerely,
Sidney
