The Sims International Film Festival was created in 2010 as a way to foster creativity in the Sims Community through machinima, a video game art form that uses video game footage to make movies. A twice a year machinima film festival was created and opened to The Sims Community.

A lot of time and effort goes into making sure the Sims Film Festival happens. The staff is happy to give up our time because we love Sims machinima and we want to foster the creativity that goes into it. It gives people a taste of what it means to be a writer, a director and a voice actor. Many people that join us each season want to do these professionally and this is their way to get a small taste of it. We also want to make it bigger and better each season and that is why we have come to Patreon.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
The Sims International Film Festival has always been and will always be free. We aren't charging for anything, nor will we ever start.

SO...WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
Simply, change.

The longer version is that The Sims International Film Festival is moving away from being hosted on the Simatography website because change of management and because it's growth is limited by it's current web hosting. We want SIFF, as it's been called, to continue to grow and we want to be able to bring everyone more. We have had so many ideas that we have wanted to institute for so long but have been unable to for a variety of reasons.

WHAT KIND OF THINGS ARE WE TALKING ABOUT HERE?
  • First, we are rebranding everything. We have been using the acronym SIFF for six years and this has caused some confusion. The Seattle Film Festival uses the same acronym. This means new logos, new social networking accounts, etc.
  • We want to bring you podcasts where we interview directors and voice actors. We want to talk about machinima and have you send questions in and have them answered.
  • We want to add unique content to our YouTube page that is of interest to the Sims Machinima Community. This means tutorials and talent showcases.
  • We want to start hosting give-a-ways and provide festival participants with small tokens of thanks. We don't get freebies from EA/Maxis to give away and these things cost money.
In sort we want to do more to help, promote, and showcase the Sims Machinima Community. We can't do that without help from the community itself.

WE PROMISE THAT EVERY PENNY WE RECEIVE THROUGH PATREON WILL DIRECTLY GO INTO KEEPING THE SIMS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL RUNNING AND GROWING!

Goals
$0 of $15 per month
$15 a month gives us the funds at the end of the year to pay our basic costs of the domain and web hosting. Currently all funds come out of our own pockets, and the site does not have ads or generate any revenue. $15 a month in pledges would allow us to keep the site ad free.
