Hi. I'm Maryam Henderson-Uloho, the CEO/Founder of SisterHearts Re-Entry Program. It's a unique program developed by ex-offenders that helps to decarcerate women after being incarcerated. It's titled S.H.E.R.O. - SisterHearts Exit ReEntry Organization.

SisterHearts is a decarceration center, transitional housing facility and thrift store in Arabi, LA  just outside New Orleans, Louisiana. We help ex-offenders with a focus on women decarcerate and transition back into society with dignity—because almost no one else is doing it. SisterHeart understands that without decarceration from incarceration, there can be no true rehabilitation.

Many women and men come out of prison with the intentions to better themselves and contribute to society, but they are often released with no support system, housing, or funds. Getting a job is exceedingly difficult. It's next to impossible to live inside a cage(prison cell) year after year and not be affected mentally and emotionally. The effects of be dehumanized, demoralized and desenitized

I, Maryam, created SisterHearts to be a bridge to help the formerly incarcerated cross over into society with dignity. I'm proud to say that in less than three years I have risen from selling junk out of a suitcase on a street corner to being nationally recognized as a motivational speaker, reentry specialist, and entrepreneur.

But I have so much work still to do. I take women in at SisterHearts on a nearly daily basis. And all the money we make comes from the cash register in our little thrift store.

I would love your support, as a Patron, to help me provide jobs, food, clothing, and shelter for women who have nowhere to go. I dream of more Sisterhearts, for more women all over the US, and I need your help to get there!
