                 About Me

Welcome! I’m a potter, educator and ceramic artist. I’m passionate about all things CLAY! I make intricately decorated wheel-thrown porcelain vessels and educational videos with a special focus on decorating techniques. I have been the intermediate/advanced ceramics instructor at Turk Hill Craft School in Fairport, NY for almost 15 years. I studied clay at Alfred University where I met my wife Sarah. We make our living as full time ceramic artists. We came to Patreon to share our nerdy clay knowledge with the world and to connect with other potters in a new way. We want to create a supportive, nurturing, positive and affordable online environment for out Patrons to learn, to meet other potters from around the world and to build a community.  Join us!
Examples of my work:

How Patreon Works

Patreon is a membership platform that makes it easy for Creators to share their work with the world. For me, Patreon is all about sharing a lifetime of ceramics knowledge with you in a clear and concise way. Here you can learn every aspect of pottery-making from a professional in a way that works for your life…anytime, anywhere.

       Silver Tier

Becoming my Patron at the $5 per month level will give you access to our ever-expanding library of pottery lessons (currently 7.5 hours of video lessons) covering all aspects of pottery making. We currently post 5 new educational videos each month. We promise to help you make your best work in a way that works for you! Signing up will also give you warm and fuzzy feelings and earn you my undying gratitude!  As of 10/27/18 have 26 detailed instructional videos available at the $5 level.

        Gold Tier

For those of you who want a lot for a little more, our $10 Patrons receive the rewards from the previous level plus our tears of joy in a bottle (while supplies last). You’ll also receive (more importantly) access to downloadable worksheets with tool and material lists for EACH project! These sheets are a compilation of years of know-how in PDF form and will save you tons of time and money.

I would love to work with you more closely!
I offer two Tiers where
Patrons
have access to me for help and guidance with their work...

     Platinum Tier

For $20 per month you get everything from previous levels plus a One-on-One 30-minute private critique/discussion/help session about your work with Adam per month in a format that works for you (Skype, Facetime, phone call)

    Mentorship Tier

For $100 per month Patrons I will answer all your burning questions (clay-related) through messaging in Instagram, the Patreon app or email. You can send me photos and I will give suggestions and generally guide and mentor you in all aspects of your studio practice from solving technical problems to creative decision making.

A Mentorship Level student writes:

This is working perfectly for me for many reasons but mainly because of the access to Adam and his wealth of knowledge. Going to weekly classes allowed me access to some great teachers but only when I was in the class and only really covering the making process. With Adam, I am able to ask about glaze compositions, sharing recipes, kiln firing schedules and fault finding in all processes at the time that I’m doing them and not waiting for the class. My knowledge in the 3 months that I have been working with Adam has increased exponentially and from a financial point of view I have saved kiln loads of work which I will be able to sell thereby recouping the mentoring outlay easily. Adam has also been able to help me focus in on the most useful books around function, form, glaze and firing as I find that searching for the most succinct information a little like asking my sons to pick up after themselves - a fruitless waste of my time! I have my first open studio in September and I will be able to draw on his show experience to help me maximize my sales. In summary, it’s been extremely useful, and I have leaped ahead in my making/glazing/firing which has been commented on by my friends. It’s a satisfying experience to finally be able to hold a piece and think ‘yep, I’m happy to sell that’. For me, this mentorship has come at the right time. Did I mention I’m in the highlands if Scotland, so all of this is done via messaging/photos? Pretty impressive I think!
