Splitting Hairz reveals the unique bond between hairstylist and client. While doing hair serves as the stage for Chicago's fearless innovators, we set out to "create noise" about formidable projects and the creative people behind them. These are real people telling real stories.
A little about Maureen Mae:
Maureen's career began with studying violin music performance as well as anthropology. She also spent many a semester building sets or painting back drops for theatrical productions leading to gigs as an Interior Designer for furniture companies. After the housing market crashed in 2008 it left designers with shallow pockets and she had to reinvent herself once again.
Here in lies the seed...
A passion for color theory, anthropology, science and form, were a solid foundation for a career doing hair. After graduating from Aveda Institute, she began work in the salon and despite rookie status landed gigs working on film sets. These experiences and the personalities of people coming to her for fabulous hair ultimately sprung the concept for her video podcast Splitting Hairz.
