About Spread

Spread is a zine about music, sex, and DIY culture, born from frustration at being spoon fed culture by a system centred around consumerism. It’s a system that curates an image of culture around familiar themes over and over again, so that we can buy it, read it, and become a new version of it over and over again. Culture can be anything. It can be rough around the edges, it can be different, critical, it can be poorly written, well written, it can be gross, disgusting, and at odds with the norm.

Spread features:
  • Discussions on media culture, consumerism and DIY cultures
  • Music reviews, gig listings, new music
  • Industry interviews
  • Critiques on gender
  • Original artwork
  • Interactive DIY elements
  • First hand commentary on sex and sex work in Ireland
  • Free ad space for those who would benefit from it.
We publish quarterly throughout the year and distribute at events primarily in Dublin. We accept submissions, written or visual.

Patreon members will receive a zine printed and posted to them, or reserved for collection at one of our events every quarter. We only distribute 25 copies at each event for non-Patreon members.
