About SQGLZ

Governments and big business — hardly distinguishable anymore — provide the solutions to most of the day to day problems we all face. More often than not, they provide the problems as well. And, those solutions, we don't always find them satisfying, or even acceptable.

In 2012, SQGLZ closed its quirky printshop and dingy bar and I, Deacon Rodda, shifted my attention to directly solving problems in society. Since then, I've been working to ameliorate the incumberance of interest baring debt, bring a holistic approach to the study of violence and saftey, and deepen the emergent field of study known as social permaculture.

Most of these projects, which you can explore in the public posts on this page, have received very little support financially. They've all been built on passion and grit. So, I'm looking to those who directly benefit, who are ideologically supportive, or are even just curious to see what comes of all this, to contribute to this work.

Another side of this is that, as all of society is in such flux, some of these efforts which used to feel very separate don't seem to be working that way anymore. My martial arts practice didn't have much to do with my interest in permaculture. My work in economics was pretty removed from my design work. As each of these pursuits has evolved they've begun to converge more and more — and in that convergence the best outcomes are beginning to emerge.

If you'd like to see where this could go, if you'd like SQGLZ to keep putting its efforts into designing and implementing solutions to social problems, sign up to contribute $2 a month. If you'd like to get in on it all directly, come to the martial arts classes, be involved in the process or just see things before everyone else, throw in a little more.

Thank you for your time and your consideration. If you think that there's potential here but this isn't a good time to sign up to contribute, please share this profile and stay on the look out for good things to come from SQGLZ.
