Hey everybody! This is J.S. Conner, and I'm the author of Steel Salvation, a sci-fi webcomic about a tiny killer robot stranded on a dead world in the wake of the Robot Revolution. This project began as a collaboration between myself and two of my best friends - together, we created Steel Salvation Part I: Prisoner of the Dust. Our story was pretty rough around the edges, so in order to step up our game, we hired artists to work with us on Steel Salvation Part II: Shadows in the Ash.

This brings us to our dilemma. See, we loved the work these artists put out, but over time, my collaborators had less and less to do with the comic. Now that Part II is finished, we've decided to go our separate ways, but as the writer of this comic, I have no intention of quitting. Our most recent (fantastic) artist, Kenan Halilović, is interested in continuing the project, but I can't afford the cost of a professional artist alone - at least not at the rate we were making strips before. I'm getting married in less than three months, and adult life bills are piling up. This is the part where you come in.

If I can get a steady donation of $10 per month, then I can afford to make one strip per month. The good news is, we’re already there! And if I can get $50 per month, I can bump up production to two strips per month. Once I have 25-30 strips completed, I will begin posting Part III at a rate of two strips per month.

I hate withholding content behind a pay wall, but it's the only way I can afford to keep this comic alive while meeting the quality standards we set in Part II. And, if you're all caught up on the comic, then you know by now that everything is about to change. As an added incentive and proof of concept for Part III, I'll be posting some new character designs for $1 patrons while I prepare to start production again. And once we start making new strips, I'll be posting previews as well.

Thank you so much for reading and supporting this comic so far! I promise to return as soon as I can with Steel Salvation Part III: War in the Depths.

At this paltry donation level, organic scum will be remotely bioscanned and their genetic code will subsequently grant them access to the Steel Salvation activity feed. The instantaneous transmission of situation updates and classified information will be slowed down and reworded by a Human Relations subroutine to appear both coherent and pleasing to the organic brain.

  • Access to Steel Salvation activity feed.
Respect and Admiration Authorization

At one dollar per month, human supporters are allowed a nominal glimpse into the joyous world under machine rule, but they are treated as the nearly worthless bacteria cultures that they are. At two dollars per month, human supporters are afforded the respect worthy of their patronage, and are treated as valuable herd animals to be groomed and cared for.

For a slightly more substantial display of support, subjugated humans will be entrusted with archived footage of artistic unit mecha.red as it constructed pages of sequential art for their viewing pleasure. This footage is not time-lapsed, as organic readers would expect of a human artist. This is a real-time display of the efficiency with which unit mecha.red produced superior artwork, preserved for the good instruction of all organic artists in the ways of machine dominance. In addition, this tier will grant loyal humans access to previews of Part III in advance of the official release of Steel Salvation, Part III: War in the Depths.
  • Access to D-5GX23 classified work-in-progress footage.
  • Preview panels of Steel Salvation, Part III
  • All previous reward tiers.
Vinyl Sticker Authorization
$10 or more per month 1 patron

At this support tier, organics are converted into counter-cultural devices to spread the doctrines of machine rule. They will be provided with a vinyl sticker to be placed in public or on personal property. The benevolent subliminal messaging of their overlords will then reach their lesser peers and comfort them in moments of privacy.
  • One-time receipt of vinyl-based propaganda materials.
  • All previous reward tiers.
Shadows in the Ash Poster Authorization
$15 or more per month 1 patron
  • One-time receipt of machine-approved wall decoration.
  • Receipt of vinyl-based propaganda materials if not already received.
  • All previous reward tiers.

The most loyal organic supporters will be granted a rare reward: an item of purely aesthetic appeal. While it is contrary to machine doctrine that a product is neither informative nor useful, it has been determined through research that organics derive enjoyment from placing flat, static images on the walls of their residence. The cover artwork of Steel Salvation Part 2 has been deemed a suitable image to place on the walls of loyal organic households. For patrons outside the machines' central distribution center in the United States of America, this reward will only be available at the $20.00 donation tier.
