About Stefon Mears

Hi, there! I’m Stefon Mears. Thank you for checking out my Patreon page.

Who am I?
I’m a professional fiction writer. Well, honestly, I’ve also been paid pro rates for my personal essays and poems, but my main focus these days is fiction. And I write a lot of it. I’ve got seventeen books out as I type this – including The Rise of Magic Series, The Telepath Trilogy, and the Ars Portlandia series – and more coming all the time.

So why a Patreon?
To be honest, for a long time I didn’t think I was the right kind of artist for Patreon. I didn’t think I could make the kind of regular offerings that would suit this model.

But then I looked at the number of short stories I’ve been writing. You see, I really enjoy short stories. I like reading them, and I love writing them. I’ve been writing enough that I can offer two every month to my patrons and still have stories to send to magazines and anthologies. And if enough readers support me here, I can afford to offer even more on a monthly basis.

If you haven’t read my work, I write mostly science fiction and fantasy, but I venture into other genres from time to time. If you want to try one of my short stories for free, the best way is to sign up for my monthly newsletter ( You’ll get one for free for signing up, and you’ll get another free each month.

If I offer short stories for free, why should you become a patron?
Well, the stories my newsletter readers get for free have already been published, and they’re only available for a short time each month. My patrons get short stories before anyone else sees them, at least a month before those stories get published anywhere else.
$31.96 of $1,000 per month
I'll add a third monthly short story for all my readers!
