~WHY I AM STILL WRITING~
I came to writing late, after learning to read at nine years old. But that just made my sense of observation stronger and made me appreciate images more--like those of Venice, Italy. At first I started with poems—scratchings on pink message pads. In an early poem about the seasons, one stanza is about a winter I had not witnessed. My imagination took me places I had yet to experience, took me to worlds and words I was compelled to explore.

With your support I will be able to research and complete the next three novels in-the-works: The She-Novelist in Venice, My Darling Hattie Belle, and Lost in Ocala. Along the way there will be stories, a poem or two, an article or essay here and there. Like most writers I work in many genres, but the themes in my work are often of women whose stories need to be told, or whose place in history needs to be established and honored. Time is my companion and sometimes my enemy, but writing every day is the goal.

Though my roots are in the South and in California, I have lived abroad and traveled to Shanghai, St. Petersburg, Suva, Hamburg, Wilmington, and Venice. I am drawn to water cities. They inspire my work and continue to inspire me. And on some of those trips I gathered ideas, snapshots, bits of dialog. In other cites I researched current and future creative projects.

So join me on this journey, and follow my path through posts and updates, fun food news and quirky travel reports. Sign on today and travel with me!
