I'm a self-taught photographer/artist who started taking photographs for a local community newspaper in the early 80s.

I recently gained an Honours Degree in Art History with the Open University to give me a theoretical understanding of art, artists and his own practice.

My main projects concentrate on typologies and have been influenced by the architectural studies of the Bechers, the darkness of Bill Brandt, and also by the use of colour in the seventies by William Eggleston.

My website is http://www.stephenbaird.co.uk

The main reason I am on Patreon is to help widen the audience of my work, both as a platform to show it and get people to look at it and as a platform for an income stream that let's me have more time to create.

My first main project is an art piece celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Angel of the North, using found photographs I will develop different pieces in different media culminating in a book to celebrate the sculptures place in the hearts of the North of England.

I am also developing the project Britain by the Sea, a photographic journey around the British coastline, exploring the seascapes and towns at the shores of this island.
