About Stories for Earth

About us

Stories for Earth is a podcast about everything climate change in pop culture. Created by Forrest Brown, Stories for Earth seeks to foster hope and resilience by discussing stories that contain parallels and takeaways to our current predicament. We are dedicated to promoting a diversity of voices through a number of different mediums including literature, film, television, gaming, and poetry.

Why stories?

Stories are the lens through which we view the world. We humans use stories to make sense of life, process hard-to-understand events and processes, and to forge our identities, among other reasons. Stories have helped us overcome countless struggles in the past, so we believe stories have a big role to play in helping us defeat the climate crisis.

We are committed to examining stories from a wide variety of backgrounds, especially stories from historically oppressed and marginalized communities and from people who are regularly excluded from the climate conversation. Everyone has a vital role to play in stopping the climate crisis, and we all have something to learn from one another.

The impact of your donation

Stories for Earth is funded and maintained solely by donations from listeners and readers like you. We believe everyone should have access to resources for dealing with the effects of climate change. That's why all of our regular content will always be free, period.

$4.30 of $15.50 per episode (monthly)
Reaching $15.50 per month would cover the annual cost of running the website. I currently pay $186 annually for the website—this breaks down into G Suite ($72), web hosting ($96), and domain registration renewal ($18). I try to buy used books, rent movies, or borrow from the library to reduce materials cost, but that's one other expense I don't count for this goal.
