StoryWonkCon at the Finger Lakes!
$3,000 per month
We're thinking a full weekend of wine-tasting and story work. We'll find a venue and plan the weekend for mid-fall, when Central New York is at its prettiest. It'll take some time to pull together after we hit the goal, but at this level, the most passionate Wonkers will be able to come and hang out with us for live podcast recordings, workshops, and guest speakers, if we can talk them into spending a weekend on the Finger Lakes Wine Trail. We think we'll be able to do it!
There And Back Again
$3,500 per month
When we hit this target, we're going to follow Bilbo and Frodo on their journeys across Middle Earth in this series of Patreon-exclusive discussions and commentary tracks for all six of Peter Jackson's remarkable adaptations of JRR Tolkien's timeless, luminous classics.
StoryWonk Goes Full-Time
$5,000 per month
At this level of support, we can afford to lay our other work aside (except for writing fiction, which is non-negotiable) and give StoryWonk our undivided attention. That means more podcasts, more travel, more interviews, more videos and more live events. We have big ideas, and we can't wait to get started!

Hi. We're StoryWonk, and we're story experts.

We use our expertise and our enthusiasm to make nerdy, award-winning, ad-free podcasts about the TV, movies and books and you love. We don't just make fan podcasts, or news shows -- we analyse, critique and celebrate pop culture, the art and craft of writing, the worlds, characters and relationships that fascinate us, and much more besides. Listening to a StoryWonk podcast is like having two smart friends over for dinner, and talking about the stuff you love!

Right now, we produce five ongoing shows:

The Light Bulb
In our flagship show, we take pop culture seriously. If you care about the stories, art, technology and ideas that make us who we are, then The Light Bulb will start your week off right with a fast and funny half-hour discussion, plus our recommendation of the week!

The Scot And The Sassenach
The Outlander novels have been beloved for twenty years, and the TV adaptation delivers all their magic and romance - and controversy - onto the small screen. Come join a real-life Scot and Sassenach as we break down every episode and celebrate this remarkable story!

Dusted
Buffy The Vampire Slayer is one of the most important, influential and awesome television shows in history. In Dusted, we take every single episode apart and study the craft, style and philosophy contained within. If you're a Buffy fan, you can't afford to miss it!

We Used To Be Friends
Veronica Mars was a complex, charming, progressive and dynamic series that turned the conventions of film noir on their heads. Every Tuesday, we release a brand-new commentary track in which we discuss the mysteries, relationships and unforgettable characters!

The Journeyman Writer
Writing is hard, and that’s kind of the point. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, Alastair gives you the facts about the art, craft, business and discipline of writing. If you want to write, The Journeyman Writer will keep you on track.

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing Patreon supporters, we also run an ongoing seminar series in which we look at the great works of popular fiction, and analyse them. We began with Diana Gabaldon's Outlander, then moved on to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and Jane Austen's classic Pride and Prejudice. This fall, we're turning our attention to one of the most important pop culture phenomena of the 20th century -- Star Wars!

We're smart, we're experienced, and we're passionate. We love what we do, and with your help, we'll be able to do even more!

Pledging your support will also get you access to exclusive podcast and video content, just for you. We're talking about commentary tracks for your favorite movies, rambling conversations about stories and storytelling, full and complete classes about the craft of writing, conversations from our car trips to the grocery store, and other cool, strange things. You'll also get access to our Patreon-exclusive StoryWonk Secret Show, posted on the last Sunday of every month!

We know what you're thinking: "Well, that's all well and good, but who are you charming internet folks?"

We first bonded over a shared love of writing, storytelling and podcasts, and now, five years later, we're happily married and living in a small town in beautiful upstate New York.  Lani Diane Rich is an award-winning and best-selling novelist, as well as a professor of screenwriting at Syracuse University's Newhouse School; Alastair Stephens is a writer, web designer and tech-guy who keeps the machinery of StoryWonk well-oiled. We started StoryWonk because we believe that storytelling is important, that stories matter, and because we were having these conversations anyway, so we might as well record them.

Thanks for stopping by, and for supporting StoryWonk!
