Hello, I'm Jessica, better known as sudojess. I make a lot of different things.

Why Patreon?

I always will create something regardless of my situation. It's in my nature. I started this patreon to give me more support while doing that. Right now, I can only afford to make things if I've had a particularly good month freelancing, or a large amount of spare time.
A lot of the projects I work on are difficult to monetise, and as a result, I'm not earning any significant passive income from them. Patreon is a way for me to have a small amount of income to put right back into these projects, maybe paying for some additional assets, equipment or services that I need.

As a backer, you'll get early access to the creations I make, at least one per month (and likely much more), as well as some exclusives and behind the scenes looks into the process. I'll document the process of everything I make and you can read/watch that here. It's a bit of a mixed bag, one day you might get a new Game, another, a set of photographs. Higher tiers can request specific areas for me to focus on.

What do I do?

Games

I've been programming since I was 8 years old, and designing games for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I make games, and this is a place you can support me making them. I tend to make shorter games, focusing on a single idea or mechanic and I usually release them for free. Sometimes I'll release the source code. I like to help others make games, so if you have a question about games design, I'm happy to give any advice I can.

Websites

Most of my career in the past 4 years has been in web. It's something I have a passion for, and I happen to be quite good at it. I enjoy designing new websites both for individuals and businesses, but my real love is in creating interesting web tools / webapps. A recent example would be BitPrime, a silly little tool that tells you if the price of bitcoin is a prime number.
A less silly example would be Let's Conjugate!, a tool to help you learn verb conjugation in Japanese, developed alongside a friend who needed it.

I have a ton of ideas that I'd love to bring to fruition. Supporting my patreon will help support me doing that.

Apps

Apps were some of the first programs I created, so I've been doing it for a while. My speciality is porting apps from one platform to another, be it porting iOS to Android, or creating entirely new apps from scratch. I've worked on everything from Internet radio stations, to B2B apps, even an interactive app for a movie! Like websites, I have a few app ideas I'd love to try out.

Music

Listen here
I began to study music around the age of 12. I started on Guitar but quickly progressed to bass guitar. Since then, I've learned to play half a dozen or so instruments at a passable level. I studied music composition from ages 14-18, and have made music professionally since. I've made music for podcasts, games, trailers and more.

Art

I've always had an interest in an art, but only really picked it up in my 20's. I worked for a while at a creative agency, and it really gave me the inspiration to be more artistic. I have since made sure to focus heavily on design and aesthetic on all my projects.
More recently, I've been doing small space paintings on my iPad, and learning Blender for 3D modelling.

Photography

A few years ago, I started to attend airshows, and this sparked my fascination in photography.  At my first opportunity I purchased a cheap Bridge camera, but swiftly moved to a DSLR. Since then I've taken thousands of photographs in different locations. I try go out every weekend and find something new to capture.

Videos and streaming

I have a huge interest in cinema, together with my girlfriend, we enjoy watching, critiquing and creating movies of all kinds. Editing video is a real challenge, and I love sitting down for an hours long session of turning some raw, rough footage into a complete narrative.

More recently, my partner and I have been livestreaming gameplay on
Twitch, and working on video essays for Youtube. We have some big plans for the future and we'd love to have some additional support in doing so.

Writing

Like anyone else, I have a lot of opinions. I feel a good way to get those opinions out there is to write about them, so I've been focusing a lot on writing recently. I want to review anything that come into my life. Places, Movies, Games, Objects. If it's something I can have an opinion on, I'll write about it. I'm currently working on getting screenshake.net up and running for video and game reviews.

Other

I'm always looking into new ways to express myself, so occasionally I might try something new. I can't tell you what that might be, but whatever it is, I'll share it here.
