Right now I have three different projects going on. The first one is my graphic novel series, which began with Mystery Science Storybook: Bedtime Tales Based on the Worst Movies Ever! I draw my own parodies of movies, well known and obscure, bad and good, and compile them into these colorful collections. For the most part I have been basing these parodies on movies featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax, but I have been meaning to branch out to bring some freshness to the series and to attract a wider audience. You can read the series for free digitally on my website, but you can also pick up hard copies and pdf and Kindle versions. The Storybook series is currently in its fourth volume.
The second project is SRD's Movie Night, where I gather some of my friends and we watch a movie together and snark over it in the style of MST3K and RiffTrax. However, our show is different than other MST3K-like projects in that the riffs are not written or rehearsed. We watch the movies live together and our reactions to the movies in real time is what the end product ends up being. It's very fun, fast paced and unpredictable. You can see our back catalog of movies here.
The third, and most important right now, is that I am currently training to be a pro wrestler. Yep, at age 37 I decided that I actually wanted in and for the last few months I have been training to get into the ring and entertain the wild world of professional wrestling. It's not easy, but I'm making progress. I'm hoping I will be able to debut by the end of 2018.
This is all very time consuming, and having a 9 - 5 job while also trying to do all this is an incredible strain, and to be honest I have a very hard time making ends meet every month. This is why I am appealing to the public to help me get my income on Patreon up to a point where I will be able to live comfortably while putting the time and effort into these projects I need to get things done, which is all my time and effort.
How it works is that you pledge a certain amount to give me every month, even $2 or more helps, and I will supply you with fresh content at least once a month. There are also some rewards on the side there that you will get if you donate at a certain level. Take a look and see if anything catches your fancy. I will never charge you more than once a month, and I will only charge you if I have provided something that calendar month, whether it be a new Storybook parody or a new episode of SRD's Movie Night.
Here are what some other people have had to say about my work in the past.
- "Mystery Science Storybook takes scenes from some of the cheesy films made famous by RiffTrax and Mystery Science Theater 3000 and reimagines them as bedtime stories. It's a graphic novel that puts a new spin on cult classics like Birdemic and "Manos" The Hands of Fate that's perfect for bad movie fans of all ages!" - RiffTrax.com
- “[Mystery Science Storybook is] almost certainly what eyes and the English language were invented for. Buy a copy for your friend! Buy a copy for your enemy, who will then read it, love it, and become your friend, too. I'm not saying this book is the key to world peace, but isn't that too big a chance not to take?” - Matthew J. Elliott, RiffTrax Presents
- "Before you is a veritable MSTie's playground with hilarious merry-go-rounds that will hurl you right into funny town. This love letter to all things riffing is a gift to the movie mockery community at large!" -Rikk Wolf, Incognito Cinema Warriors XP
