SullyGnome is creating Twitch Analytics

Hi folks!

My name is David and I am the creator of SullyGnome.com. SullyGnome is an analytics platform for Twitch and has been a passion project of mine for the past couple of years. The goal of the site is to provide streamers and game developers of any size with the information they need to help make decisions on Twitch (and to create pretty charts).

The project has been a fantastic opportunity for me to meet people from all over the world who share our passion for Twitch.

As a software engineer, working with Twitch scale data poses an interesting set of technical problems. The number of channels is huge, the amount of streams is huge and trying to aggregate it and attempt to extract meaningful information from it poses an interesting set of challenges, particular as part of a hobby project.

How the site works

SullyGnome.com uses the Twitch API to collect data on channels and games every 15 minutes. This data is then aggregated hourly, daily and monthly to create useful information for members of the Twitch community.

Please note, the site is in no way affiliated with Twitch and while great care is taken to create the most accurate statistics possible, the data will never be 100% accurate.

Why Patreon

Twitch has grown rapidly, particularly in the past year. This has greatly increased the amount of data that need to be processed and so i'm keen to update my infrastructure to better support this.

Patreon was my preferred choice to do this as it would be completely voluntary and in my humble opinion advertising would be a distraction from the main purpose of the site - the data.
