How can socialists make sure that when we are in government we do a far better job than anyone had thought was possible in managing our health, public transport, education, housing, the police and the other public services?
That's a question that is never discussed at any socialist meeting or conference that I've heard of. Yet, unless socialist governments, whether in the UK, or the USA, or anywhere else in the world, come into office with a clear understanding of how differently they will manage those essential services, we will be stuck with the dysfunctional managerialist bureaucracies that neoliberalism has spawned, and that will be a disaster for everyone.
Our purpose is to start a conversation about the differences between what we are calling the 'Super-Smart' models of management and the managerialist bureaucracies that have been - and are - creating increasingly dysfunctional, unresponsive and expensive public services.
The funds we hope to receive from our sponsors will help to pay for travel, printing, meetings and seminar expenses, video production, IT and Social Media assistance.
