Support Public Lands.is creating a website and videos to encourage advocacy for public lands
Select a membership level
Any donation helps - no amount is too small! Patrons at this level ($1.00 - $9.99) receive access to subscriber-only bonus content and videos. You also get my eternal gratitude and the knowledge that you are helping keep supportpubliclands.com freely accessible and my corresponding YouTube channel SuperClassy Adventures as ad-free as possible!
Patrons at this level ($10.00 or more) will periodically receive goodies I pick up on my adventures: it could be stickers, postcards, literature I think you might enjoy, there really is no telling because I have the tendency to collect EVERYTHING... Because I am a Libra and therefore all about fairness, the higher your pledge, the more often I will send you stuff, but at least twice a year, so please make sure your mailing address is current.
Of course, you will also receive the benefits of Level 1 as well!
About Support Public Lands.
My name is Michelle, 'SuperClassy' on trail. I've been long-distance hiking since 2014, and have since logged more than 6,000 miles, including the Pacific Crest Trail in 2015, and from Alabama to Connecticut in 2018 via the Pinhoti, Benton MacKaye, and Appalachian Trails.
In 2017, I started considering how to give back to all of these trails that have made me such a better person. So, I designed and built supportpubliclands.com, a website intended to increase awareness and advocacy for public lands, because without them, the trails wouldn't exist. To date, I've created more than 100 pages of content spotlighting unique public lands units, the people who use and love them, and the outdoor recreation businesses that rely on our open access to them.
In the past year, I also started a YouTube channel (SuperClassyAdventures), and I'm now producing videos from the trail and in the van to keep my site updated more regularly when I don't have access to a computer.
What are you up to?
Currently, I'm finishing up videos from my Alabama to Connecticut hike in 2018 and some more recent vids from van life on public lands. Additionally, I have a backlog of scores of public lands sites I've visited to make pages for. In April 2019, I hit the 3,100-mile Continental Divide Trail. I'll be vlogging along the way, in addition to creating gear review and hiking how-to videos.
What are you doing with my money?
At this point, all funds I receive will go primarily toward hosting and maintaining my website, and secondarily toward producing content and videos (e.g. mobile and data services, Adobe Creative Cloud membership, etc.).
The website will always be free, just as I believe our access to public lands should be. However, the costs associated with producing all of the content and videos while keeping the site ad-free are considerable, currently almost $200 per month for the non-negotiable expenses mentioned above. If I get to a point where donations exceed my monthly costs, those funds will go toward gear replacement and resupply on trail.
What do I get?
All patrons receive access to exclusive Patreon-only content and videos. Subscribers pledging $10 or more per month will also receive occasional surprises in the mail, the frequency depending on the pledge, but no less than twice per year. I collect EVERYTHING, so you might receive stickers, trail mementos, postcards, maps, books, there's really no telling!
And of course, you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping keep this ongoing, ever-growing database of our public lands and the people and businesses relying on them ad-free and openly accessible to everyone.
Sounds great! How do I sign up?
Becoming a patron is super easy! Just click on the 'Become a Patron' button at the top of this page. Select your level based on your pledge: Level I for any amount between $1 and $9.99; Level II for any amount $10 and up. You can customize your amount to whatever you like, although $1 is the minimum Patreon allows.
Patreon will bill your first pledge on the first day of the upcoming month, and on the 1st of each month thereafter. You can change your pledge amount or cancel altogether any time you like.
Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate your support of my mission to protect and preserve our public lands by becoming a monthly patron!
Any extra funds will go towards gear replacement and resupplying food (or gas when I'm in the van).
All funds will increase my peace of mind about being able to continue the production and maintenance of the website while I am on a 3,100 mile trail!
