Hi, I'm Katherine (you can call me Kat).

I'm a writer (well, copywriter by trade), actor and singer who dabbles in photography. I recently had an early(ish) life crisis leading up to my 29th birthday. One year left of my twenties and what do I have to show for my life so far? A Facebook account full of people I barely know and a wardrobe of clothes that don't fit me?? Depressing! But I digress.

I don't know about you, but I'm getting sick of seeing a newsfeed full of Hollywood gossip and selfies that are "filtered" within an inch of their lives. We're forced to compare ourselves to stuff that isn't even real, and it pulls focus from the fact that our real lives are way more beautiful than the plastic ones we're seeing. We're being tricked into thinking that we need "more" to be happy!

This got me thinking about what would truly make my life (and everybody else's' lives) better. What could we be doing that would mean we're "making every day count". And whether it was a stroke of genius or simply a mix of birthday-related panic and working-til-2am exhaustion, I decided to start a blog in the hopes to answer that very question.

It's called Sure, Why Not? because I want to encourage my readers to stop looking for reasons not to try things and start giving them a go. What things? Adventure. Art. Storytelling. Style. Whatever makes them feel alive. I want them to stop to smell the roses, find beauty in the little things and appreciate day-to-day moments instead of just waiting for "big events".

Through video, photography, illustration, words & music, I want to create something that resembles real life. Beautiful, but not over-polished. Inspirational, but achievable. Not telling people that they need to become another Beyonce or Oprah to live an amazing life, but that they can live it with exactly what they've already got.

Why do I need financial support?

Content creation is time-consuming and I already work 6 days a week to support myself. I would love to spend 1 of those days per week on Sure, Why Not? to allow me to create unique, high-quality content that will have a positive impact on my readers. I also need to outsource video editing as I don't have the time or skills to do this myself!

Aside from making inspiring content, I want to make an immediate and positive change in the world through my work, so I will be donating 10% of all my Patreon earnings to the wonderful organisation, One Girl (click the link for more info).

The disclaimer.

Despite being a professional writer and marketer, this whole "blog for the sake of blogging" thing is new to me. I have SO many ideas and I'm sure some will be awesome while others will plain ol' suck. I'm not promising perfection. I'm offering a blog that is genuine and heartfelt, that will continue to develop and evolve in time! If you're interested in what I'm doing, I'm flattered and thank you sincerely for your support. If it's not your kettle-of-fish, I completely understand!

Goals
$0 of $150 per month
Setting up, I invested a chunk of my savings so I could afford a camera, microphone and some lighting, allowing me to record quality videos. I also pay subscription fees for the Adobe Creative Cloud (for editing & design software) and a few other tools. Achieving this goal would mean I could "pay myself back" for these and stop running at a loss for the essentials! :)
