WHAT YOU GET:

You'll get short stories, usually in the sci-fi or fantasy genre. But you, my patrons, will guide me on what you want to see me writing. Want to see how I handle romance? Tell me. Mecha combat? Lemme know. Murder suspense? We can do that. I'll take try writing just about whatever you want.

Stories will between 3,000-10,000 words.

WHO AM I?

I'm a writer. I write. A lot. I write for a lot of outlets and I write my own speculative fiction, but I also have a day-job. And a family. I'd like to get rid of the day job (not the family, no matter what they might tell you) sooner rather than later.

Patreon seemed like the most reasonable way to do it. I get to write short stories, you get to vote on what I'm writing, you get to read the stories for a period of exclusivity, and we all win in the process.

Who am I, exactly?

I'm glad you asked that.

I'm a fiction writer. I've written more than a dozen novels, four of which have been published. I've written more than a hundred short stories and about a quarter of those have been published, too, many in anthologies alongside some of the best writers in the business. (Not to name drop, but people like Timothy Zahn, Michael Stackpole, Aaron Allston, Kevin J. Anderson, Rebecca Moesta, Janine Spendlove, Gail Z. Martin, Jean Rabe, Ed Greenwood, and many, many others.)

I’m an active writer of non-fiction as well, with a regular column on StarWars.Com and regular contributions to Star Wars Insider magazine, HowStuffWorks.Com, Syfy, Huffington Post, and many more. I blog about writing at bryanyoungfiction.com, and am the founder of the geek news and review site BigShinyRobot.com

As the host of the popular Star Wars-based podcast Full of Sith, I talk to lots of fans and have dedicated myself to making the fan community as welcoming a place as possible. I want this place to feel the same way. Even if the fan community is centered around me... er...  well, my writing...

HOW OFTEN WILL YOU GET YOUR STORIES:

EVERY MONTH. And you'll be the first to see them for a while. They'll be exclusive to Patreon backers for at least a few months after you receive them.

HOW WILL YOU GET THEM:

With the exception of some of the high-end, physical things you might be getting if you pledge at the ridiculous levels, you'll be getting the story in a .pdf and .epub formats.

IN CONCLUSION:

Thank you for getting this far.

I ask that you choose a level of patronage, keep an eye out for updates, and wait for the great stories to roll in.

Thank you so much for even considering such a thing.

$1 or more per short story
You get the short stories as they come out in .pdf, .epub, and .mobi format. You'll also be able to vote on the genre or idea for the next short story.
Extras!
$3 or more per short story
Want draft chapters and deleted scenes and other short stories in addition to the new short story? Two bucks more and you get a new draft chapter of a current work or deleted scene from a prior work every time I put out a new story. Want to know what book I'm working on currently? You'll see unedited, pre-revision stuff that no one else ever will.
Director's Commentary!
$5 or more per short story
You'll get everything above as well as a written essay about the short story and things that inspired me as I wrote it and what I was going for. Think of it like a director's commentary.

$25 or more per short story
If you pledge $25 per story,  you'll get all the tiers above, but I'll also send you an annual chapbook with two of the best short stories printed inside of it. It will come signed and with new, original art. These will be limited to 100 via Patreon, and will be available at conventions.

$50 or more per short story
In addition to everything above, including the chapter books, I'll send you personalized postcards from my travels 4 times a year with a six-word-story written on it.

In addition to everything above, including the chapter books and the postcards, I'll write by hand a 200-500 word flash fiction and send that to you as well during the course of the year.

As soon as we reach this level, I'll do another special live video conference for all of my backers and every contributor will get a digital copy of my second novel, Operation Montauk.
