What is Switch Player?

Switch Player is an independent Nintendo Switch magazine founded in 2016. We released our first issue in February 2017 and release issues bi-monthly; we also have a website which you can check out here.

Why a magazine?

There is something undeniably special about magazines. Having all that content in one place, being able to read quite literally at your fingertips – digital content may be convenient, but nothing beats being able to hold it in your hands. For many, Nintendo magazines are imbued with nostalgia, as many of us have grown up reading ONM and other print gaming magazines. Official Nintendo magazines may now be defunct, but the readers for that content – you! – haven’t gone anywhere.

So that’s where we come in.

Our magazine is packed with loads of awesome Switch coverage. In addition to our hand-picked selection of  reviews, we offer a huge amount of magazine-exclusive content that you just can’t get anywhere else, including features, interviews, community contributions, custom artwork, and more. Originally a 40-60 page monthly magazine, we switched to a 100+ page bi-monthly format in January 2022. You can be sure that there is something for everyone across the magazine!

When will issues be released?

As of January 2022, new issues are released bi-monthly. Depending on where you live, postage times may vary. Switch Player is based in the United Kingdom; domestic postage normally takes around a week, but international orders can take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

The release schedule is:

Charged in January and February - receive issue 61 in March
Charged in March and April - receive issue 62 in May
Charged in May and June - receive issue 63 in July
Charged in July and August - receive issue 64 in September
Charged in September and October - receive issue 65 in November
Charged in November and December - receive issue 66 in January 2023

When will I be charged?

New supporters will be charged for their first issue upon signing up. Subsequent charges will be processed on the 1st of each month. You are being charged monthly for a bi-monthly magazine - we have essentially merged two issues into one to save money. It costs a ridiculous amount of money to make a magazine independently and with soaring paper and postage costs, we had to do it this way to ensure our survival.

What will my first issue be?

Your first issue will be the issue released in the month of your sign-up, so that you can start your collection straight away! Whatever is on the top of this page will usually be the one you receive.

What’s the premium subscription?

We offer premium support tiers for our die-hard Nintendo Switch community. These tiers offer exclusive A5 prints of our cover art as well as Switch Player badges to add to your pin collection. We also offer a sponsorship tier, where we offer all of the bonuses of the premium tiers as well as a sponsor section.

Where can I find the complete collection?

We have limited quantities of back issues available via our shop, which can be accessed here. We occasionally offer occasional bundles and deals to save you money on both postage and the magazine, so make sure to check back from time to time if you’re missing any in your collection.

You can also find our entire collection on Readly, which will require a separate subscription.

What else do I need to know?

The print version will come in A5 size. We merged two issues into one in January 2022 to save costs, so instead of a smaller monthly issue we now offer a larger, higher quality issue every other month. In this format we will have at least 100 pages in future issues.

I didn’t get my copy. What happens now?

Sometimes the post likes to go missing, especially when sent over huge distances like our magazine is (thanks Royal Mail...). If your magazine doesn’t arrive and your pledge successfully processed, we will happily replace it – just reach out to us so we can sort it out. If it happens more than once or twice then we might have to look into why.
