Travel to the UK to write and record with Dan and Laura Curtis.

Dan and Laura are world-renowned lyricists and composers who have worked with Broadway and West End legends including Ramin Karimloo, Sierra Boggess, Lea Salonga, and Laura Osnes.

We want to work together on a musical and theatrical project that bridges the worlds of the theater, cabaret, and indie songwriting.

The best work happens when everyone is collaborating face-to-face, and since Dan and Laura have a new baby, this means sending me to the UK to work with them.

About

As a recording artist, Tae Phoenix has garnered international attention with her “tremendous” (Blues Magazine), “phenomenal” (Marty Riemer), supple and achingly passionate voice, and her “elaborate and educated songwriting” (Woodbangers).

Phoenix has performed everywhere from Seattle’s legendary Paramount Theater to the streets of Montmartre. Her theatrical credits include The Baker’s Wife in Stephen Sondheim’s iconic “Into the Woods” and Cosette in the epic “Les Misérables,” and her love of musical theater tinges her soulful blues rock with just a hint of Broadway.

Hi, I'm Tae Phoenix. My life's mission is to create art that reflects and nurtures our common humanity and draws each audience member closer to their own authentic, open heart. I realize this mission through writing and recording music, touring with my band, and my work in the musical theatre. My big dream is to write a full-length musical and star in it on Broadway. (This sort of thing is not unprecedented.)

For me, art is inextricably linked with social justice; which is why I spend a good deal of my time each year working with marginalized young people. My ongoing projects in this space include working as a volunteer music TA in the Seattle Public Schools and teaching vocals and songwriting at Rain City Rock Camp for Girls.

Your ongoing support will help me invest in equipment, pay for travel, marketing, and studio time, and to make a meaningful financial contribution to my family while focusing my time and energy on my art and my service contributions. Thank you in advance for partnering with me in these efforts.
