About Tali Weinberg
Welcome! I am an interdisciplinary artist making work in response to intertwined climate and health crises. My weaving, sculpture, and drawing has been exhibited internationally and written about in the New York Times, Surface Design Journal, and the NRDC’s OnEarth Magazine. A few recent exhibition venues include the University of Colorado Art Museum, 21 C Museum, Berkeley Art Museum, 108 Contemporary, and the Center for Craft. I have also taught, lectured, and given workshops throughout the US.
This fall, after 20 years living between New York, California, and artist residencies throughout the country, I moved back to central Illinois to be close to family. As the year comes to a close, I am thankful to be re-rooting, setting up my new studio, and getting to work!
With all of the changes 2020 brought, I (like so many artists) have been reevaluating what it looks like to financially sustain a career as an artist. How does one maintain a rigorous studio practice and connection to others when away from larger art communities, during a global pandemic, in the midst of climate crisis and political/social upheaval, when our economic and social structures are not designed to provide stability for most artists?
Patreon is one piece of this puzzle for me. For those who value the work I make and are in a position to give, your support helps ensure that I can continue prioritizing my art and research. It means I will have a small cushion of consistent income through the ebbs and flows of otherwise unstable artist funding. My initial goal is $500/month which will cover the basic costs of maintaining a studio and staying connected—space, utilities, phone and internet.
I am incredibly grateful for your support and am always happy to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out with questions or if there are membership benefits you would like to see added in the future.
Wishing you health and safety!

AND, for those of you who have reached out interested in collecting work but not able to pay for a piece in full, there are a few options here that act like payment plans -- smaller monthly payments for a drawing or woven piece that I will create and deliver to you at the end of a year.
