Tara Kingis creating poems, zines, and books. I think you'll like them.

You are the Composition Book.
You are my favorite writing tool in the world. You make all of this possible.
Official patron status. You'll get access to my patron-only feed AND endless appreciation for joining my team. We're talking poems, works-in-progress, blog posts, and monthly updates. THANK YOU.
You are a #2 Pencil.
Let's get to work. We'll write until our pencils are dull; then we'll sharpen our pencils and start again.
Same awesome patron-only feed as the $1 folks, PLUS a monthly writing prompt. I'll share my take on it--you can share yours too, if you like! Let's make a mini writing group together. No obligation to participate whatsoever, but if that's your cuppa, it'll be fun!
You are the Glue Stick.
You hold me together and help me make zines at the same time.
Same patron-only feed, same writing prompts as above, PLUS...a digital copy of any zines I put together.
Here's the thing:I want to write books and release them like a house on fire. I want to write weird RPGs that no one knew they wanted until they saw it. I want to write epic poems that don't fit in journals. I want to write creative how-to guides. I want to be a creative firehose (this metaphor is getting out of hand) and I don't want to shut off the water every time I have to fundraise to produce a project. When I think of doing a fundraising campaign, like, all the time, for every book I want to release, forever and ever, I turn into that sad bell pepper you forgot in the back of your fridge.
And that's where you come in.
How it works:You pick a level and are charged that much every month (unless, of course, you cancel).
Backers at any level ($1+) get access to the patron-only feed: a hodge-podge of poems, works-in-progress, monthly updates from the outpost, surveys, book reviews, all the things.
At the next tier ($3+), you also get monthly writing exercises from yours truly. I'll include whatever I created from that writing exercise and you can share yours, too. It's a mini writing group!
At $5+, you also get a digital copy of every zine I make.
For $10+, you get alllll of the above, plus a piece of physical mail every quarter. Sometimes it'll be a signed copy of a zine. Sometimes it'll be a draft of a poem. And on very rare occasions it will be samples from my circa 1990 sticker collection.
At the very highest tier ($30+), we'll talk about what makes the most sense and figure this ish out together. Feel free to contact me with
This is all subject to change; these are early days and I'm figuring this out as I go. I'll keep you posted in advance of any changes to your selected tier.
I want a place to share my work with people, regularly, without people feeling financially stressed out about it. I don't want to feel stressed about it either. I don't want to have to take out a loan to pay a printer. I want to chatter with you all and make strange books that would never make it through the corporate papermill of a big publisher.
Because what I love most of all about writing is paying attention. Writing makes me sit up straighter, notice the things around me, the way we speak to each other, and all of a sudden I realize: Damn! Things are amazing! I NEED TO TELL EVERYONE!
This is about gathering my people together, from wherever they might be in this world, sharing what I'm working on, having conversations, and getting some funds to do more and better projects.
This is about building my life as an independent artist, finding new and interesting ways to release work that are less yoked to Amazon and Facebook. Right now, that's Patreon. Tomorrow, maybe it's something I built on the weekends. Who knows.

Thank you!!!THANK YOU for reading so far. Thank you for your support so far--whether you backed my Kickstarter, came to Mad King Thomas shows, or just heard about me when you started reading this page, you're making this creative life of mine possible.
Your support makes this happen, at any and every level. If you've ever gone for a walk with me and saw how excited I get to find a penny on the sidewalk (I found two today!)...just think about how excited I'll get for a WHOLE DOLLAR. We're talking cartwheels. Jazz hands. Love poems.
Let's do this. The worst thing that happens is the world is a lovelier, funnier, more ludicrous, more sensitive and earnest place.
At twenty patrons, I'll create a new zine inspired by the twenty folks who support me.
