Lovingly captured by a BlogTO article, Tea Base is an “accessible gathering place for Asians, POC, creatives, queer folk, and everyone in between" to hold events, gather and network. Tea Base prioritizes youth from the East Asian and South East Asian community, seeking opportunities to develop their practice. Our space acts as a support through cultural programming, in-house literature collections, seasonal art curation, and a tea menu by local sommeliers. We also aim to bring together the older and younger generations because through cross-cultural dialogue we are able to learn the histories that are not taught in school, and let those stories inform our actions in how we shape our collective futures.

In our first two months since our January 2019 launch, we've held workshops ranging from Dumpling Making to body positivity to engaging with spirituality and community as diasporic people of colour; we've hosted dance classes; we've supported through one-time and recurring residencies local aspiring tea sommeliers and their businesses; we've launched Mahjong Mondays whose following includes prominent Artists, emerging youths and elders from the Chinatown Centre community; engaged in transnational and transethnic dialogues and bridging initiatives; become involved on the local Chinatown Business Improvement Association and with local post-secondary institutions looking for student placements.

With continued community support, including yours as a patreon member, we intend to continue our course and also expand the scope of our operations. This includes
- paid staff and volunteer honourariums;
- content generation in the forms of monthly newletters that highlight community building initiatives and their results, events within the community network and other commentary; collaborative art shows; off-location events;
- through hosting of dialogues and workshops, exploring and address issues within our community such as anti-blackness, LGBTQ solidarity, income inequity, inter-ethnicrelations within and between diaspora communities, within the GTA and internationally;
- expanding our operations to include exploration of other ethnicities within "pan-asian" umbrella and different issues impacting each ethnic community at varying localities within the GTA.
