Stargate Fan?  Then this is the Tier for you! I wanted to figure out a suitable way to thank you all for Covering our nuts... and bolts... so I'm adding Stargate benefits to this tier!  You'll get an invite and access to my streaming Stargate viewing and Q&As!  We have snacks and drinks and watch an episode of Stargate Atlantis with our patreon friends, text chat, mingle and get your questions answered...or avoided...or we just mock and deride each other.  Thank you all so much for your support!

I'm also adding a new thank you perk here...a Rodney Mckay personalized voicemail message (well, first name anyway...we can't forget the Merediths!)...I'll record a few suitably snarkastic Rodney options and a list of first names to personalize them with ....should have them for you shortly!

About The Tech Bandits

Hello Internet!

My name is David Hewlett and I'm probably best known for playing Doctor Rodney McKay on Stargate Atlantis.  But I don't just play a geek on TV, I actively recruit them!  For the last few years, I've been running a junior school tech club out of the hallways, library and French room (wherever's free!) of a local school.  My hope is to inspire kids like me to pursue science, technology, engineering, arts and math.  The club has a history of assistive related exploration and this year I really want to push that to the limits by partnering up with a wonderful local school that specializes in working with children with developmental and physical disabilities. Assistive tech is a huge motivator for kids.  They like seeing that their tinkering can make a difference and change the world.  By introducing them to and having them work with kids with disabilities...kids who can really use this assistive tech...I hope to inspire them to become the curious, intelligent, kind and caring humans we all need in our future!

The club is free, but we’re always looking for old tech and any monetary donations we can get for cool new equipment, tools and supplies! I'd really like to get us a CNC machine and Laser Cutter (ideally in kit form so the kids and I can build them and feel like tech superheroes) to help them bring their 3d designs to life. Plus we can always use more cameras, computers (for using and abusing with PC autopsies) and software so the kids can produce, edit and share their own Maker adventures and spread the word!
