After 2 more years of adventuring, you met up with Ivy at a bar.
When she saw you, she quickly ran up towards you and grabbed your arm and pulled you to the table.
Puzzled by what was going on, you asked the question. Unaware of the bomb you unleashed.
"What happened?"
Ivy immediately burst out complaining. Apparently, she had a rough day today and could not get over it. There was an adventurer named Loren, a guy who wielded a great sword.
I sourced my memory and recalled that such a guy frequented the Guild quite often and made a scene before. His sword was huge and I doubt that I would be able to lift such a thing even with both arms.
For such a well-build guy, I was quite surprised when Ivy said that he was only Copper Rank. She elaborated further about Loren's exploits and I was dumbfounded.
[How could a Copper Rank Adventurer possibly accomplish so much?]
Naturally, such thoughts were shared with her superiors. So, she was tasked with having him take a Rank Up exam.
There was where her issue lied. She had approached another Adventurer, famous for his lustful behavior, Klaus.
Apparently, the Guild girls knew of Loren's strength and wanted to teach Klaus a lesson for his endless flirting. However, to make sure Klaus accepted the job as the opponent for the exam, Ivy had to put her body at stake.
When she mentioned that, she paused for a moment and looked at me. As though waiting for a reaction.
Naturally, seeing it as a cue, I replied. "Seriously. What were you going to do if Klaus won?"
"Then, I would have no choice but to spend the night with him..." She said in pain.
"But, since you are here now, that did not happen right?"
"Yeah! But!"
Ivy continued to rattle on and told me about what happened after.
"So, in the end, you lost 20 Silver and the test is incomplete..."
As Ivy heard that, her spirit sunk lower.
Though I had to admit, she had it coming, watching her so down make my drink taste bad.
"Take it that the 20 Silvers are the tab for today? How about it? I'll cover the expenses."
Her spirit did not seem to recover as she shared her worries. "I'm not worried about the 20 Silver. I'm more worried about the promotion that I am about to get... Now with a recent failure... I doubt I can get the position anymore..."
I looked at her with a thoughtful gaze and asked. "Hmm... alright. So, you must have some kind of solution right? Else, you won't call me here."
"Do I look like a schemer to you?" Ivy pouted. Though, she seemed more lively than before.
To her question, I simply followed the rule. 'silence is golden'.
A little disappointed by my response, she gulp down her drink and pleaded, "Could you try to take the Silver Rank examination under my recommendation?"
I gave her a puzzled look as she continued.
"If under my recommendation, and if we get another Silver Rank adventurer, there is a chance of me offsetting my mistake. So... could you?"
I gave a ponder and to strike iron while it was hot, she whispered to my ear. "I'll be yours if you do."
And so, I became Silver Rank.
