I started The Art Spectrum when I was 16 years old, as an outlet for learning more about the small art business world and the creative process of other artists. I absolutely love meeting other artists, asking them about their work and their creative lives and process, and The Art Spectrum was a way to build a community of artists and readers that could relate with each others' successes, failures, and learn more about each others' artistic goals and latest projects. It was also a way to support in some tiny way small business artists who were in the early throes of trying to get their feet off the ground and brand themselves. Many artists were very thankful that someone reached out, or even noticed their work or the potential that was there, and I was able to make some really kick-ass cool online friends who I'm sure would let me couch surf for a few nights if I was around and needed the favor!

This being said, the blog was going great - in the first year I had gained over 400 followers (this was back when it was on the Blogger platform). Other bloggers or artists were starting to pay for ad spaces, or reaching out for a chance to be interviewed. It was all going great, but I was in college at the time and my family was going through a lot - I was working as hard as I could in school, as well as at my part time job trying to bring home extra $$ for food and bills. I all but stopped blogging, or would get to it only once every 3-4 months.

Now that I'm out of school, happily married and living in better circumstances, and even able to work on my own artwork in my free time, I decided to revive The Art Spectrum. I migrated all of the old interviews from the Blogger platform over to Wordpress, and I've started interviewing artists again. Patreon will give me a chance to blog more often, and give more artists a voice and opportunity to get their work seen by more people. It will also give readers a chance to support small art business in a small way, and build a community that I believe is worth being a part of!

Thank you so much for all of your support, I'm excited that this journey will be able to continue!
