About Simon Taylor
The series I am working on now is about theatre.
I try to write one piece per day. And I send them out as letters.
So that each comes in bite size.
In them I will show you how to let a little air in,
to open the window a crack, as Deleuze and Guattari write.
The theatre I am interested in is the one invented, in so much
as we say that A process is invented.
We can see this process in reading from the printed page or screen.
Across the surface of the page, we watch the characters
take something from the depths, our interest,
and something from the heights, a word,
to address us.
We watch them surface.
Because we know the surface when we see it,
it is at the surface that we know.
Where they can be mobilised and produce new meanings.
In this process we move from one thing to another, by a series
Enabling one meaning to turn into another.
With as little violence as possible.
