Hello, Diarist fans! Thank you for showing and interest in helping to support your favorite neo-noir fiction podcast. Please consider donating monthly and becoming a regular supporter. I'd like to take a few minutes to explain to you why this is important...

What it has taken to get here

When I started writing this podcast in January of 2016, I wanted to create the best serialized fiction podcast anyone had ever heard. I spent months before beginning production writing the novel, The Diarist and crafting it into a script for radio. I immediately recognized that the podcast world lacks serialized fictional drama. My co-producers (Beth Ricketson & Ryan Bowen) and I then started planning, planning, planning. Designing logos, getting the website built and the server set up, ordering equipment & software and testing it, and setting up a studio in the attic of my 1908 Portland home. We cast the actors and extras with some of Portland’s best talent. We spent thousands of dollars of our own money and a massive amount of time creating this addictive binge-worthy show, which many of you have now come to love as much as I hoped you would.

There are 17, 30-minute episodes. This show is very different than most fiction podcasts. It is a full production drama. Each episode weaves a complex psychological plot. It is unsettling, haunting, engrossing, and addictive. There is a cast of 7 actors (and growin)g, audio sound effects, and musical score. We tell a story using immersive production techniques. Because of this, the average time to produce a single episode is much greater than your average weekly podcast. The genre forces us to rehearse, record, edit, and produce. It's been a lot of work to get to this point, but our true fans continue to make it worth it. We are excited to bring more high-quality story telling to our fans. We have plans for several seasons of high quality audio drama podcasts!

Please Contribute
Imagine how much more we could do if every listener donated at least $1 a month! Please contribute anything you can afford, but consider some of the higher tiers if you can afford it, but even the smallest contribution is extremely helpful.

Thank you for your support and we hope you enjoy Season 1 – The Diarist!

The Diarist

After completing Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, Andrea Davies takes a position at a large New York Advertising firm, admittedly there to find a husband and secure a life as a well-to-do, country club socialite. Andrea meets Richard Hayes, one of the firm’s partners. An attraction takes hold. To everyone at the firm, Richard is the powerful yet kind and respectful executive with tragic home life. He appears to be a devoted husband to Margaret, a dangerous “lunatic” who is in and out of psychiatric hospitals. Andrea becomes increasingly drawn into Richard’s bizarre personal life. She begins to assume the role of his wife and mother of his young daughter. However, a parallel reality continues back at his apartment where his psychotic wife moves in and out of insanity.

Things are not always as they seem in this neo-noir thriller. The Diarist, explores the darker side of the human psyche and the terrifying consequences of indulging in base desires. The story unfolds in 17 serialized episodes available on iTunes or where ever you get your podcasts.
