Maarten Daalder You know, that would make a lovely postcard for the Kickstarter... *hint hint* :)

Shannon Saar Oh my, this is a pleasant surprise. I love the palette, and the design is breathtaking. I have a couple things, though...Why is she up on branches? Is there a significance about trees in the strip that I'm missing? And as much as I love the Art Nouveau style, and the artistic endeavor...wouldn't Art Deco better suit the time period?

Derek Meyer The dimensions and style remind me of a tarot card. That look of serenity seems ominous to me. I'm not sure if it's a context thing where I can't separate the character from the tone of Broodhollow, or if the idea of contentment just bothers me generally.

Vince LaLuz Dude, I'm not sure if I was able to read all that much into paying half-infinity for a horse lo these many years ago... but I have definitely run into some thought provoking strips. And then boner college... or Stephenie Meyer's - rapist... and so on. But yea, thanks for the quick insight. You're much better at explaining to my wife, exactly why I like your art.

Kris Straub even the old dumb chainsawsuits were a comment on the trend of doing dumb scribble comics. chainsawsuit was originally mocking that style!! then i decided i actually liked making them

Jeff Good Simple drawings really do work for more punchline oriented comics (even if they are more thought-provoking like this one). Not every webcomic can be drawn with the detail of Broodhollow, and honestly most jokes don't deserve that treatment. You can still convey a lot with a simple drawing. It just frees you up to focus on the joke (or other projects) without having to worry about how it looks.

Casey Best Kris, I'm a big fan of your work and PotatoSaladMan is a good friend of mine (and a great guy in general)--all I can say is the COMPLETELY unexpected windfall well be put to a Lawful Good use.

Kris Straub This is what I figured, because having seen his response, this is not some scam. He had no way to know everyone would run with it. I think he'd even be within his rights to just keep it, since he's going to do what he promised from the outset.

Mark Hechim How much is one life worth? If you had $1,000,000, how much of that would you have to spend to "save" a life? $1/day to some kid in Africa? If that's all it takes, why aren't you doing that right now? You monster.

Kris Straub i suspect this is the actual "horror" of the story, where you're basically the only one who knows that you did something wrong. pushing the button kills a random stranger, and the act is utterly untraceable back to you -- except you'll always know you did it. ditto for donating! maybe your meal donation saved 3 people. but are you really saying you couldn't have given enough to save 4? how much of the world is your fault?

Joshua Jones The big twist is supposed to be given after you push the button, that's when he says he's going to give the box to someone that doesn't know you. The implication is that you are the stranger who will die when someone pushes the button, as well as knowing you have to put your life in the hands of a stranger when your own choice led to a stranger's death. The million dollars is basically a death sentence, and the worst part is that you know you'd deserve it. Don't take money from strangers, or they'll kill you.

Eric Cregger Well, we'll all just have to increase our patronage pledges so that you are rapidly over-committed again. Such is the reward for being talented.

Auros Harman So when you guys did Strip Search, was there like a cabal of people joking around about sexy stuff, confusing the folks who were more mainstream? Or were you *all* uninhibited, but most folks kept that stuff off-camera? I know I remember Amy having shown up in OJST previously, and now you've roped in Abby. (I swear I didn't think of the double entendre until after writing that sentence.) Going on the "nerds tend to be sexually adventurous" principle ( http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/control-tower/Content?oid=6874748 ) I'd wager that Maki is "one of us"... I always find it kind of mind-boggling seeing just how sheltered Mike Krahulik is. It leads to some kind of unpleasant situations -- he said some really ignorant things about trans folks a couple years back -- but it always seems like his heart is in the right place and he's willing to learn, when folks gently prod him about it...
