About The Flame Musical

We're making podcast musicals and GOOD ONES! We've always loved musical theatre and the joy that it can give people. But Broadway isn't the only way we can experience it. Most people listen to Broadway Cast Albums, sing along in their cars, sing duets with their best friends and have never set foot in a Broadway theatre. That's why we want to make musicals that are accessible to everyone and especially focused on the LGBTQ+ community.

Starting with.....The Flame!

The Flame tells the story of two women: Jamie, a queer bar owner, and Sam, the woman selling the building the bar inhabits, and the inevitable sparks that end up flying between them! With the help of her best friend, Heather, and bar regular Jo, can the residents of The Flame keep the bar alive? Or can Sam’s friend Mel help her work through her complicated feelings about her father’s death and the building she grew up in before she makes a rash decision?
We’re planning an 8 episode musical arc and will release as a Lez Hang Out Production in Summer 2021. It will feature an entirely original story, book, and score with 18 songs!

Where does your money go?
We have big dreams for the Flame and we need your help to make them happen! Your contribution will help us make the podcast itself. We have to pay our actors, writers, crew, audio editors, music producers, and marketing team.

If we can get enough supporters, we would love to have a virtual table read of the musical, fly the cast out for a launch party, go on tour with a staged version or even make a full length feature film! Like we said, we have big dreams!!

AND we do have plans for other podcast musicals in the future! We've already started dreaming up new worlds and styles of music to make every podcast musical unique and exciting and always focused on telling underrepresented stories. Your support helps us make the Flame, but it also helps us make more musicals in the upcoming years!

What's in it for you?
Exclusive access to preview content that's never been heard before! The musical won't come out until June 2021, but we've been hard at work and would love for you to all be involved in the steps along the way! At $10, you'll join our monthly music club where you'll get a monthly preview of the songs from the show! We have 18 songs in total so we have a lot to share with you!

March - Always That Girl - Chilina Kennedy
April - You've Got Trouble - Jesse Nowack
May - Keep it Lit - Jenn Colella
June - Maybe Today Reprise - Jasmin Savoy Brown and Ellie Brigida

At $25, you'll also get access to behind the scenes videos of our process! Jasmin and Ellie being unbearably cute as Jamie and Sam? Check! Jenn Colella singing her face off in her living room? Check! Chilina Kennedy giving us all of the Maureen vibes as Rachel? Check! Jesse Nowack giving us villain deliciousness from his home studio? We've got it! You get the picture ;)

At $50, you'll get tickets for the virtual table read with the cast (still in process for scheduling!).

The story:
The producers, director, writer and lead characters on this project are members of the LGBTQ community. We are committed to adding to the great storytelling landscape supporting the LGBTQ community. Your contribution will help elevate their work and passion.

We’ve been working all year long writing original songs, scripts, booking Zoom recording sessions and pulling it all together and we can’t wait to bring it to your ears in June 2021!

Goals
56 of 75 patrons
Right now, Ellie (our sound designer) treats the post-production end of The Flame as a full-time job she gets paid part time for. This is, unfortunately, not sustainable. At this level, we could begin to pay Ellie for her hard work for this season and NEXT -- and to thank you all for supporting her, we'll record and release a behind the scenes video of the recording process for an episode from start to finish.
