$1 a month is a lot. If 500 people gave me $1 a month, I would make $500 a month. That would let me quit one job. If 1000,000 people gave me $1 a month, I would make $1000,000 a month. Think about that.

About The Floating World

"madam data // smth savant presents The Floating World, a podcast of experimental sound and storytelling. Music in the sense of vacuum cleaners and power lines, a pulsating mechanical unconsciousness. It is sound to listen to while driving, walking through the city or taking the subway, while falling asleep at 3am to construction outside, when you need to be more than your body."

Who I am

I'm the creator of The Floating World podcast!

I started TFW when I went out in search of an experimental podcast that captured the feeling of tuning in to a mysterious radio station while camping out in the mountains in the rain. I wasn't looking for a talk show, a serialized drama, or a DJ. No such thing really existed to my satisfaction, so I decided to make it. I wanted it to be spooky, and funny, and nonsensical, and full of dread and machines and jump cuts. I wanted it to rock you to sleep with the thought that someone out there in the radio waves is as weird as you.

What I need

A way to not work 3 or 4 part time jobs, which I'm currently doing. The financial freedom to be able to invest time in making TFW more regularly, paying people for stories, going out and recording things, and doing the hours of editing / mixing / composing that each episode requires. It turns out this isn't a lot of money!

What you get

Cos the world works that way, right? It's ok. For the kindness of helping me out, you get more regular episodes of TFW. There will of course be tier rewards and such, but this really is the main thing - if I can get paid, I can do this more and better. And as of now there's nothing out there like it.

Goals
$27 of $100 per month
I will be able to make an episode monthly! Currently, I can only do it every couple of months due to the sheer amount of work each episode takes. $100 a month would allow me to scale back some of my other activities, giving me more time to work on this.
