About Nia Marie

Starting my Instagram page in 2016 was several steps outside of my comfort zone. It pushed me to be authentic and honest about how I struggle with my mental health and in what ways life challenges me daily.

It evolved over the years to talking about body positivity and exploring what mental health means to me in a public-facing platform. Not only was I chronicling what I ate in recovery anymore but I was pushing the boundaries of social norms and comfort around body discrimination. I am a voice for people who were too afraid to speak up or weren’t ready to yet.

And that is what I want to do. Maybe not full time but I want to speak for marginalized people in the recovery community and outside. I want to speak up about OCD and Bipolar Disorder. I want to educate on fat bodies in eating disorder recovery.

But what’s most important to me is hearing your stories and what you’re going through and being a support in times of need. I want to do the hard work in my own recovery but also help those struggling with their mental health.

I want to be the voice I needed to hear when I was a teenager with mental health issues.

And so I thought that maybe I can foster a space where people feel heard and seen. And maybe there will be people who also believe in that dream and are willing to support me financially so that I can do that work.

I know that for some of us finances are hard. And I won’t tell you to spend one fancy coffee a month on me. What I will ask is that you maybe spend a bit of your paycheck on the work that I’m doing. And I know that’s a big ask. I use some of what I have leftover at the end of the month to support creators who are doing the work. I ask that you do the same.

It’s my goal to create resources and blog posts and vlogs and so much more for you all. And to interact one on one with you. To get in the trenches and look at mental health from a personal perspective.

Your support will help me to do this work and create content beyond what social media allows.
