Some people use them as coasters, others as wall hangings, and still others use them as backsplash tiles, which, in the words of Elle Woods, "Gives it a little something extra."
In May of this year (2018), I left my job as a UX designer for enterprise security software. The corporate old-school 'boys club' environment and I are not a match - at all. So I trusted my instincts, took a leap, and dove head-first back into creating art. Creating fills me up like nothing else. My anxiety, depression, and PTSD are all soothed when I am 'art-ing' and putting something people love into the world.
At the moment I'm delivering food and driving with a ride-share company - ie. hustling my butt off, and living off savings, which is extremely precarious, unsustainable and MUCH more stressful than I had anticipated.
So, that's why I'm launching Patreon. I want to make THIS my actual job. I want to do this full-time. I want to keep making awesome artwork for you and be a bona-fide artisan who consistently gives back to the community.
A portion of everything I sell, and every contribution to this endeavor goes to one of these mental health organizations:
To Write Love on Her Arms, an American non-profit organization which aims to present hope for people struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury and thoughts of suicide while also investing directly into treatment and recovery.
National Alliance for Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
One of my goals is to become an 'official' partner with these organizations, and your generous contribution will help get me there. It is deeply important to me to return all of the support and care I have been fortunate enough to receive through the years. Without the help of mental health counselors, doctors, and my family and friends there is no doubt in my mind I would have fallen into the grips of depression to the degree of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. No doubt. That scares the shit out of me!
For the first time in my life I have found what I'm good at and makes me happy, and I don't want it to go away.
I'm asking you to help make my dream come true.
Thank you for reading this. Thank you for continuing to read, follow, and share in the journey.
Thank you for even considering supporting me in these endeavors.
If you choose to become a part of my Patreon family then you seriously have my eternal gratitude!
If not, No worries! thank you for your support nonetheless!
I'm honestly just glad you enjoy my content.
My first goal is to make others happy with what I do, and this is a way of spreading that happiness for a little longer.
I am privileged to be in this position and I owe it all to you.
You are truly awesome!
